What air cleaner will you be using? Are you sure about the SE pipes? I just ask because I had them and the SE AC and they are no longer on mine. I have V&H pipes and a Ram Flo.

Why did you take them off? Is there some problems I should know about. I believe it is the SE AC as well. I heard them on another sporty the other day and really liked the sound.

Yes, the SEIIs sound OK.

Bang for the buck, I would get cycle shacks... around the same as SEIIs...

But, you can learn to do your rejet on this site, pickups a nicer set of pipes that will sound good and save a LOT of $$$!!

I paid $500 for HD to install and rejet... it was horrid. Don't do the same.

I have Vance and Hines Sideshots $450... but the Vance and Hines Shortshots are only $325 and look and sound AWESOME!!!

The SE A/C is garbage. A tiny bit of research here will turn up a ton of info and a hoop of unhappy campers. I've heard they have a new Stage I filter but not sure on that. And even so, I'll bet it still has a cheap plastic back plate. Look to the aftermarket.

I have the SEII's and like them.

Check out this: http://www.nrhsperformance.com/partshurricaneflow.shtml#HurricaneFlow Air Cleaners for 2004-up Sportsters

NRHS are supporting vendors here, and I hear nothing but good things about them. There are many people here that will attest to the quality of their AC. I'm gonna buy one myself before the summer's out (have the crap SE AC now)

DIY with the jets and tuning, and buy the cycle shacks...

I have SEII's, and they're FINE (tho I've modded'em a tad :shhhh )

But the CS's are a tad louder and priced better...

As far as the tuning, learn to tune your bike...it'll save you literally HUNDREDS.....

Get the manual, and read it. You can save SOOOOO much money...really...

Money better spent on "bling" :)

Supposedly the new A/C has a metal backing plate or so I was told.

Well I did it they are on :banana :banana :banana and in my opinion sound and look great.

I have not had a chance to look at the air cleaner backing yet. I only put about a mile on them so far, had to take a quick run in the rain:D just to see how they sounded and the bike ran.

So far so good I will post more once I get a few more miles on.
