andrew69pc & mroy05, you need to go over to "introducing yourself, and post a formal intro. In the meantime, welcome.

Bongiorno!

The windshield is the HD low-profile quick release compact windshield. HD part number 58602-04. Here's a better pic.

You can see more in my gallery.

Let me know if you have questions.

Incidentally, Andrea is my family name (D'Andrea originally).

Welcome to the board.

Eagle101, I want to purchase a windshield and not sure whether to buy the standard height or low profile. I'm 5' 10'' I sat on a bike at the dealers with a standard height, but the height doesn't seem right. It falls at eye level which falls in the center of my view (feels like I have sit up to peer over the thing).

I noticed that you have a low profile and seems that it falls at nose level.
If this is the case, does it still deflect wind and other goodies effectively?

I don't know if either will keep all the wind out of your face. What they do is create a low-level turbulence behind the shield. This breaks the wind and mainly keeps it from beating on you. I'm 5'9" and the low-profile works ok for me.

Whichever one you decide on, I'd get the quick release model. On and off again in 30 seconds or less.

I'd order one from a 20% off dealer figuring I could get my money back ( or most of it) on ebay if I didn't like it.

I am 5'6" and originally had the QD Low Profile on my 1200R. My head was at just the wrong level and the turbulence had my head doing the 'bobble doll' thing...sore neck muscles. The standard height version puts the top edge right about at the bottom of my nose. I can either look over or through the shield, plus the buffetting is now gone.

I had the quick release standard height. Really kept the wind off my chest and the quick release takes just a few seconds. If you have trouble with seeing over the standard get the short one. Be sure and take it in with you at work because theives can swipe it in a flash. If you are going to park in a bad neighborhood leave it at home.

That windshield apparently did a lot to reduce damage when I collided with a pickup truck. It also released itself after the impact, which I guess was a good thing. The brackets could be bent back into place but the windshield is terribly bent out of shape and deeply scratched. I miss it but since I have a large deductable it will have to wait until I can replace it. I did get the rest of the bike fixed, which wasn't too much since I installed everything myself and have the engine guard.
