Dear Harley Davidson,

There is nothing worse than sitting down in the garage on a Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening, getting ready to put a new accessory on the bike and then reading the instructions and realizing you don't have everything you need to complete the job.

Example: Rubber and chrome footpegs. (Discard old retaining ring, replace with new retaining ring) How hard would it be to include the new retaining rings with the pegs? Or how about including the torca clamps with your mufflers? :doh

forget about including the clips or o rings or gaskets.
they won't even tell you you need them when you buy the item.
I think this is done on purpose to get you to go back to the store. Maybe you'll buy something else.

When I bought my pipes, AC and jet needle, I asked the parts guy: "Now, is this EVERYTHING that I'll need?" His reply: "That should be everything.":frownthre

I learned my lesson. Now I open the package at the stealer, read the instructions, then ask for the other parts. It is a pain to get home and not have everything to do the job.

I've solved that problem by never buying anything at the dealer. Never!

and every aftermarket 'kit' that you buy from them has everything you need? i just don't see it. not that i propose buying everything from the dealer, just seems like weird logic to me. at least if you buy from the dealer, you can open the package, read the directions and pick up the extra parts you need. mail order is more difficult to do that with.

Their instruction manuals leave a lot to be desired too!
Step 1: If this is an '04 or later model, skip to step 4.
...
Step 4: Screw the 5/16" nut onto the 2inch bolt you inserted through the whatever in Step 3.:frownthre
