Was out for a ride this weekend and stopped by my local indy and saw these bikes.

http://www.vento.com/pub/usa/moto_detail.asp?zone=EUA&Id=103&moto=V-THUNDER&cat=Cruiser

I noticed the Twin Cam Air cleaner and Fatboy styled wheels. 250 cc's and a little over 27 HP! But hey, you get to kinda look like you got yourself a big bad twin cam Harley. :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack Oh and jujst check out all the HD style parts they have on this cruiser, like the reflectors etc.

Saw one on display at the airport the other day. It would probably make a good first bike or commuter (like the rebel 250's).

I think there was a link to those floating around here last year.

Who the hell would actually buy that crap?

How do you know its crap? It might be a good beginners bike
for the money. If I were just learning how to ride and were in
the market for a lightweight bike that didn't have too much power,
I'd probably give it a look and a test ride if possible.
Although the seat height isn't low enough for me to reach the ground....

I think they're 250cc bikes.
It looks like too much bike (cruiser style) for such a small engine.
If I'm right, I wouldn't suggest it as a starter bike. Too much motorcycle, not enough engine (power).
There are plenty of lighter (sportster style) motorcycles out there.
The 250cc virago comes to mind. (302 lbs compared to 375 lbs)

What I was thinking. If you're going to buy a small bike, then get a small bike. Think Buell Blast. At least if you drop you don't have gobs of chrome to replace.

I just found it interesting that the Air Cleaner, wheels, tail light, and general appearance was so Harley like and HD hasn't pitched a B!^&$ Fit over it.

Wow!

There was a guy in Conway, SC with two of em for sale, but I didn't have the bread. Dang they were hard to start (kick only, etc.). I suppose after all these years, you guys got all that figured out.

I was only 14 when I started dirt tracking Sprints.

We had one event where it was part dirt track and part pavement. I think they called that type of racing a "scramble" (?). The races were in places like Loudon, NH. My dad ended up crashing the Sprint head on into a car. He flew over the car and landed on his leg (compound fracture).

Brings back memories. If you got any pics.... post em.

I've thought of getting one just for fun, to tear down and chop. It's a fun project, good learning experience, and not much cost.

They charge too much for them in the states. Here in Korea since it's a Daelim Daystar GV125 or GV 250 they cost like $1,500 brand new. Let me tell you.... they are freakin' everywhere here. They'll use them for food delivery and cargo with crates staked 6 and 7 high on custom made luggage racks to move boxes. It's a sight!

One thing they have going for them is that they are built by a very reputable scooter manufacturer - Kymco. I own two of their 50cc scooters and beat the !@#@! out of them. Like the old Timex ad. They take a licking and keep on ticking!

Cruiser mag. had a review of the Vento and they were not impressed. For a beginner bike, I just went out and bought my wife a used Rebel. It was a '99 with 83 miles on it for less than a grand.
