2001 X1 Lightning
Ive had it for 4 years now, and I still smile ever time I open the garage:)
There have been a few minor probs. Leaking rocker covers, belt snapping ect.
But only 1 major incident, last year when all of a sudden the gear lever wouldnt move and I had no forward propulsion!!.
Turned out to be the striking dogs on one of the gears had decided to wonder around the inside a little.

Luckily I was only doing 20mph at the time so damage was minimal and I was back on the road within a couple of weeks.

Ride safe

Looks sweet Lev, I'm having a hard time waiting 4 more weeks for my 98 S1W to arrive. Do you know if that bottom spoiler would fit on my bike ??

Not sure if the standard X1 chin spoiler will fit an S1 but there are aftermarket ones available which fit all models. See one example here of a carbon fibre one..

My 2001 X1 was a hoot to ride but for the 11 months I owned it I had more things go wrong with the bike than the total of ALL other motorcycle related problems in my 30 years of riding.

Broken dogs on 4th gear was one of those problems so I feel your pain.
Luckily XL/Buell engines had trapdoors for easy access to the transmission in those days. Not anymore though.

Another thing to watch is the little screws in the throttle body that attach the butterfly to the shaft. One of mine worked loose and went through the engine destroying the front cylinder and bending the exhaust valve.
Apparently there was a recall for this issue coz the service department had seen several X1's do it.
