Saw these on the NRHS site, anyone tried them? I like the idea of cleaning the filter rather than chucking the whole thing each time. How often do the filter elements need replacing?
Thanks in advance

I have the aluminum polished one before they started powder coating them. It was good investment I believe. It is very simple to take apart an clean an especially like the magnet built into the filter. It also drops my oil temp 10 degrees when running it over a standard filter. The element should not have to be replaced. It used a fine stainless steel mesh screen. The O-ring on the main canister will last a very long time also. This is a very well built unit in my opinion. I have only cleaned it 4 times so far an no problem with it an getting close to time for another cleaning an oil change.
Here are the questions asked before purchase.

I bought one when I first got my bike and installed it at the 1000 mile service. I like the aluminum case that helps cool the oil as I live in Vegas and it gets pretty hot here so anything to help cool is good. Also like the absolute filtration of 35 microns rather than the inconsistency of paper/cotton etc. It has been great and it looks good too. Great investment in my opinion.

I have an 05 883XL and I found that I did not have to install the longer filter mount that came with the unit. It looked like it was the same length as my factory mount so I just screwed the filter on and it has been fine. Anyone else thats installed one find the same thing or did you change the threaded mounting adapter?

Aero sport - I used the spin-on adapted because that's the size of the mounting threads.

I got the chrome one and I can't believe how sweet it looks. I haven't changed my oil with it yet, but it's sure a snap to install. Looks like a quality piece of workmanship and it looks WAY COOL on the bike.
I'll post more when I do my first oil change at 50 miles.

Did my first oil change with NRHS oil filter yesterday (75 miles on the new top end). It was a simple proceedure. You should have seen the stuff stuck to the magnet, let alone all the crap in the mesh. I feel so much better knowing I'm clean in there. The unit is pricey, but I think it's worth every penny.
