Hey folks, there is a 1/2 in Paducah, KY this Sunday. Anybody thinking about going?? Me and a buddy are heading over early Sunday morning, not riding though, waiting on my new chain and sprockets.

Yep, it is a 1/2 mile dirt track. I don't know what kind of classes they will be running, but I do know its not a Grand National series event. I just gotta have a fix on some flat trackin'.

Greg,

What do you ride flat track on? A few years back, before my divorce I had a HL500 Yamaha vintage single that I was playing with on the local short track. Don't miss the ex, but damn I miss the Yamaha!:(

Got a new Maley steel shoe on a new set of size 9-O'Neal MX boots, if you know anyone who needs one. Just picked up an ex-Kevin Atherton single shock C&J XR-750 frame for my next project. Probably put a short stroke Buell engine in it. XR motors are too $$$$.

Well I checked out the website for the track. It is a wide 3/8 mile oval for stock cars, high banked and a clay track to boot. It's not a GNC race, but there should be some decent racing there. I doubt if there will be any XR's show up for the program.

DLM32, are you asking me if I race flat track??? Aw hell no!!!!! Just love the racing. Been around it since the KR's ruled the dirt.

Cant wait to see your project when its finished. Seen Atherton many times.

Well it ended up being a 300 mile trip one way. As we got into Paducah the rain let loose. They delayed the races and got the track dried out enough to get the program started. This was an Amatuer National. They had a pretty good turnout for bikes and riders. No Harley though. The popular riders were Honda and Suzuki with a few Woods/Rotax bikes in the mix. All in all they put on a good show. One young man that really impressed me was a 12 year old by the name of Jake Cunningham from Wisconsin. He rode the 85cc, and 125cc classes. He was just a little guy and could barely touch the ground on the 125, but litterally rode the wheels off of it. Very smooth rider and looked natural on the track. Watch for this kid in the future, he will definetly be going Pro and will be really tough.
