Looking for a comfortable seat for the wife and I on 100+ mile rides and have sort of narrowed it down to these two seats.

I don't like the pillow look of other tour seats and these seen to be fairly sleek for their purpose. Corbin has the reputation while Mustang is part of Sargent, and I had one of their seats on an R1100GS that was great.

Any feedback on either of them would be appreciated, along with retailers that offer below msrp prices. I searched other threads but there's not much on these seats except "got mine today" or "it's comfy". Maybe it's a good sign if nobody's complaining.

Thanks for any suggestions- Derek

I can't help you with the comparison but I bought my Mustang from Cruiser Customizing online. You might try Sorgys and see what he can get either one for.

I have a solo mustang seat on my sporty and love it. My riding partner has a two-up mustang seat on his wide glide. Now I have ridden some on his two-up ( when I needed a ride back from the dealership or something ) when I compare that to his stock two up.....mustang hands down....so comfy. I think we paid around $700 for his two-up plus got the sissy bar too....kinda spendy....We bought his seat right straight through Mustang. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

I have the Mustang Daytripper, and can say it is a vast improvement over the stocker.
However I dont think it would make a good choice as a touring seat,or for a two up seat for any great distance(Unless your wife is on the petite side)
The passenger section is rather small.
I think they named it right....you know youve been riding at the end of the day,but at least you can walk straight:laugh
Here`s a pic of the Daytripper:

Be carefull comparing Dyna, Softail, Sportster, etc. seats to each other by brand. The bigger bikes all have wider seats and different geometry then the Sportster. Just because Corbin may seem to be the best on a Fatboy or Wide glide doesn't mean it will be on the sportster. Almost everyone I know with a softail swears by the Corbin Solo and pillion but I have heard from a few people with Sporties that prefer the Mustang over the Corbin. I am trying to decide for sure which way I am going to go right now but I am leaning toward the Mustang just becasue of how hard the Corbin feels when I go to the Corbin outlet here and look at them. They say they don't really soften up either but because they form to your @ss they end up very comfortable. Mustang owners tend to say they were great right out of the box and I haven't hear of any problems with them.

I have a Mustang Daytripper which I installed a couple of months ago. I like the look of the Daytripper, but that's about it. Personally, I don't like it as well as the stock R seat for comfort. On short rides it's not that bad, yet it's hard for me to believe a passenger could be very comfy on it unless it's a fairly short trip. I did a 500 mile trip two days ago so I got to know my Daytripper fairly well; I don't like it.
I have another 500 plus mile trip planned next week and I will probably put the stock seat back on unless I buy a Sundowner, but like you mentioned they look terrible, and I don't know how it would ride either.
I have come to believe that these seat threads are of little value. But, for what it's worth, and that's not much, I wish that I hadn't bought the Daytripper. I like the looks and it's good for short distances, but I prefer the stock seat, over the Daytripper, for comfort.

I've got the Mustang Daytripper. MUCH better than stock, but I have to agree with Dooley - not a long distance touring seat. You need a break every 100 miles or so.

Haven't tried the Corbin so cannot provide a comparison.

Cheers,

Brett

Here is a link to a thread about another new seat for rubbermount sporties. It looks good but no one has reviewed it yet.

I have the Corbin on one of my other bikes, and love it, however as L.B. pointed out the same seat model for a different bike (especially the sporty) may not be the same.

That was Gunslinger's post, and good advice so I won't take credit for it.:)

I wasn't trying to say that the people who like the Daytripper are wrong, just offering my opinion. It is an okay seat for maybe 300 miles, but I wanted something else, even the stock seat, after that.

The Saddlemen looks promising;I might give it a try, but I'm strarting to feel like Jonny G at this point. I don't have any experience with the Corbin.

Maybe the forum could start a seat loaner program. Everone pool thier extra seats so members could see which seat they prefer.

Gunslinger has made an excellent point that should not be over looked.......maybe that's why his two up mustang was so comfy....because it was on a WIDE GLIDE NOT A SPORTY. A DIFFERENT MODEL THAN THE ONE DOOLEY IS SHOWING THE PIC OF. So ignor all that I said except about my solo seat on my sporty.

Update:

Just picked up a Dual Tour on ebay for good price. I'll post up how it fits and rides when it shows up in about 10 days. Oh, and this thing looks BIG. Not so much like a pillow, but wide. It's bigger than I was planning to go but since the wife and I can't see it while we ride....
