Two guys are running this in the UK Sound of thunder race series. Slightly modified, 110BHP at the rear wheel. I think it looks fantastic.
In action today at Mallory Park Liecestershire.

Oh wait ... that's a Metmachex swingarm. Nice setup! Looks like they modified the frame for a removable isolator mount as well. Sweet! It also looks like ... could it be ... an NRHS billet front motor mount? If so, I personally made that mount!
Also racing at the same event were Adrenelin Moto's 'slightly modified' Ulysses. Riden by Phil Read Jnr ( Son of the legendary Phil )

Yes thats what I thought when I first saw it. Its named the XB12XR, and used to be this bike before the reworking. (Although there doesnt seem to be a great deal from the donor bike left)

Matt from Trojan Horse/ Adrenalin Moto posted this on UKBEG.
Our 2006 race bike project is almost complete and now stands on it's own wheels at last! First race is this coming weekend at the inaugaral round of the UK Thunderbike Championship at Snetterton, so still some work to do, although I think you'll agree it doesn't look much like a Ulysses any more!!
Unfortunatly they had a catastrophic engine failure on the first day of practice, caused by a broken oil line between the swingarm oil tank and the oil pump. Which resulted in damage to the pistons and barrels, and both cylinder liners had cracks running along the bases. Ouch!!
Its running this interesting Free Spirits belt drive primary and dry clutch affair, which looks the buisness.

Well you are right, that started life as a Ulysses. I can't imagine why they chose a Uly intead of the cheaper Firebolt or Lightning to start with. That sucks that the engine has already expired. Going to be expensive to fix for sure.

Maybe they wanted the longer wheelbase?
Still, they make the Lightning in a long as well...doesn't seem right to me either....

maybe they got a good deal on a used one??
The Ulysses was a project bike ( Called Thor ) they did with loads of trick bits to promote themselves at the National Motorcycle Show last year.

They tried to sell it as it was, but had no offers I believe. So decided to use it as a base for there 2006 race season.

I thought they used the ulysess because of the wheel base being differant??
