Cell phone, credit card, phone card, rudimentary tool kit with some common combination wrenches, one of those fold-out hex multi-tools as well as one of those fold-out torx multi-tools, flashlight, zipties, loctite, duct tape, extra fuses, pre gapped spark plugs, appropriate tire repair kit, raingear, I'm sure there's more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. I usually carry a few extra bolts in different sizes as well as a small electrical repair kit which includes shrink tubing and an assortment of connectors.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

Oh, pack a spare key for the scooter as well, camera, road atlas, extra bungee cords... Will post back if I think of anything else. What route are you planning on taking?

This is cool because it suggests everything but
the freakin kitchen sink because it's actually a
checklist for a motorcycle camping trip.
You can compile your own list, from ideas on this list
and print it right from that page.

Tim, ask me! I have done the Maine/Florida trip thing. Allow yourself a mininum of 3 days travel time ( 500 mile days +) in the rain etc. and make sure you bring trash bags to keep your goodies dry when it rains
And when it rains, take your shoes/boots off and wrap then so they will stay dry, We used ta put them on engine for warmth etc.:roflblack

On long trips I always print out lists of HD shops between point A & B in case I have a problem I know where to get parts and or take the bike in case of major failure

Glad to see the list. I'm headed for Montana in June. Do have most of the stuff on the lists already on mine. Here's a tip. I pack shampoo conditioner etc in zip lock bags. Also found some 2 1/2 gallon zip lock bags. They work great for packing clothes. Once the air is out they compress down. Leaves more room in your bags.

Folgers plastic coffee cans, will fit in most rollbags and the lid snaps on tight. socks, underthings, tshirts fit in nice and they are waterproof, also school pencil boxes fit in saddlebags and keep things dry.

I didnt see any pics of your bike in the gallery. Do your have a windshield and a throttle rocker, will make your ride much easier on you. If your going to be using your credit card or debit card for most things, notify your bank or credit union. Last year a red flag popped up at my credit union due to using the debit card for gas so much. Leave a basic Itinerary with someone also right down the bikes serial numbers in case something happens.

The last couple of longer trips I've taken, I've shipped stuff to my destination via Greyhound...clean clothes, camping gear etc. When I'm headed back...I ship everything I can ahead. That way, I can pretty much ride a naked bike! I did the Fla Keys a few years back, and everything was shipped to a camp site in Key Largo. It was set up and ready for my week of fun in the sun when I got there! I just "day tripped" from Largo!
