I am wondering if anyone here has tryed to use a front tire larger than a 120 on a stock type width x1 front wheel, will a larger tire fit? (looks like it could be a tight fit). Dunlop has a 140 front I thought might look trick on the front with the matching 200mm on the rear of my bike. I got a baker chain conversion to use a 200mm tire, the bike has a 5.5 inch rear PM wheel with matching front so I thought a fatter front tire would be nice too.
these are the tires I was thinking of.

There was a thread about tire sizes that said the proper size tires for the different rims on the Buells. I'll try to find it, but I think the gist of it was that the proper size is the one that comes from the factory and anything larger will not perform like it should.
Buell put on the best tire for the rim on at the factory I believe, but I've been wrong before.

Wider tires don't corner as well. There is a fine line, you want enough surface area to contact the road but too much and you can't lean as much because of the shape of the tire. Take a look at the Japanese Liter bikes. They kept getting wider rear tires all the way to 190's, now in the last few years you see them back to 180's They realized they were gaining traction in a straight line but loosing in the curves. I agree with cjburr, the stock tires were best.

Great way to bugger the handling.

I don't know anyone who has done that. I would recommend sticking with the stock size tire.
