Anyone have some good recommendations on a 7" Headlight? Can’t see spending $300 on a “billet” headlight and don’t want something off of a Schwinn (although I think I could get it smoking bright with the generator mounted to my back tire).

I just bought a used 200 mm Fat Boy headlamp for $ 129 on my trip to Phoenix and what I see now is that I only have to exchange the headlamp mount of my 2004 XL1200C Sportster for a simple milled or sheet metal part to mount this headlamp on my bike. Note: the opening in between the mounting brackets of the Fat Boy headlamp is much smaller than that of the original Sportster headlamp.

I've just checked the parts catalog and found out that the 1200R headlamp is mounted with a bolt on top (the 1200C headlamp has brackets on the lower backside). So I think that you can mount a Fat Boy headlamp on your 1200R by drilling a hole in the top of the Fat Boy headlamp and using a separate bolt equal to the welded thread on top of your original 1200R headlamp.

Han - Thanks...been checking EBay every night for a Fatboy headlight...ain't seen one I want just yet. I can make it work since I will move it to mount on the bottom tree.

I'm working on putting a 7 inch 1980 suzuki gs1000 headlight on my bike. Had the thing rotting in my back yard for a long time. I've been stripping parts left and right, but the headlight was always a dream. So cafe' here I come. I refinished the thing, getting rid of rust etc. Now I have the stuff to put it on, and tomorrow, I will be a little closer to my cafe' dream.
