View Full Version : Brand New XB12R
1LD1200 15th May 2006, 22:12 My cousin just bought a brand new Buell from my local H-D dealer. It's pretty sweet, he got the black one with all the orange/gold crap. He doesnt like the rims, windshield, or the decals on the tank, and I dont like 'em too much either. After he breaks it in hes gonna powdercoat his wheels black, take off the decals, buy the black windshield, etc. It's gonna look sweet, I'll post some pics of it when he's done with it.
Here's a pic of exactly what it looks like now.

hybriDatsun350 28th July 2006, 08:23 Very nice! I would love to have a Buell! :banarock
Kev M 28th July 2006, 14:02 Crap man, those wheels are gorgeous. I could take or leave the decals, but colored wheels are the teets.
We want white (ok, it's my wife's taste, but I kinda dig em too).
Instead of powdercoat, he might try posting in some forums bike badweatherbikers and see if someone wants to swap wheels. Just a thought.
Anyway, cool ass bike.

rlstone 28th July 2006, 14:06 I would love to have a Buell parked next to my Sportster. Sat on one yesterday at the dealers; they have some great deals on the '06's here in my neck of the woods.
Very nice bike.

Which dealer would that be RL?
Just wondering.....not like I have any money or anything....:p
rlstone 28th July 2006, 14:25 H-D of High Point. I was in there yesterday evening looking for another bike--an '06 Sporty, of course--and they had several Buells in there. The sales dude said he'd make me a great deal and took $1K right off the top.
Problem is, I need another bike for my wife to ride and she thinks Buells are ugly. She's got her heart set on an 883 Low, but I can't find one at any of the local dealers. If it were up to me, I'd get a Buell...but it's for her--sort of.

What is it about the Low that she digs.
If it's just height, that's an easy fix.
And if it IS height, she's probably not gonna dig the Buells too much, even if she does get over the look.

The height, the handlebar reach, the solo seat that moves her up closer. A Buell is out of the question, that's me being selfish. We are going this weekend to look at some metric bikes (she has it in her head that since she's a new rider she hasn't earned the right to have a Harley as her first bike, women, go figure) but I really don't want to buy another Yamahzuki.

Jenn is 5' 4" - long in the leg, but still short enough that a stock height Sporty feels tallish. The low is PERFECT for her and she LOVES IT.
Bar reach, seat, suspension etc. Yup.
But if there are leftovers of say the standard 883, it wouldn't take too much swapping to duplicate that. You could probably pick up everything as take offs.
I don't see WHY she would "need" a metric as her first bike. Unless she wants to buy used and save thousands on the first one.
Jenn put about 5k miles on an old BMW R65 the year before we picked up her sporty. That was her choice, and probably a good one. But her sister started out right away with an 883. Different strokes.
Now Jenn is looking at Buell's and Ducatis with me (but NOT getting rid of her Sporty, just adding to the stable).
Anyway, good luck to your wife!
