I am at my wits end....

long story short...

my bikes back cylinder only fires every other rotation, or so it seems...

to put your hand over the exhaust the front pipe is a steady pop pop pop
the backs pipe is more of a pop cough pop cough.

i have spent 6 pages in the general forum going back and forth eliminating EVERYTHING else...

all i can think of is that something in the ignition is causing the back plug to miss every other time

I know NOTHING about 2001 sporty ignition systems... i dont see distributors, or rotors or anything... all i see are wires and the coil... so i dont have a clue how to diagnose something like that. i checked connections, i put in new plugs and wires, i even swapped ports on the coil (after learning about the dual fire setup) to see if half my coil was bad.

I dont see how you time these things, i dont see how any of the ignition works...

so if you can offer me either some advice on what to try or look for...

or else just offer me up a harley ignition 101... then maybe i can figure things out for myself.

I just posted on your other thread. I think you're onto something here with the rear cylinder. I don't think it's ignition, but I won't rule it out just yet.
