Hi all.

I am assuming that this is the right forum for talking about hardbags, so here goes.

I have ben thinking for getting a set of hard bags from Haeley for my bike, but they are quite up there in price(The per-painted one) and there can be a wait if up to 11 weeks to get them.

So I was cruising E-bay when i came Upom these....

I like the guards and that there not too big. 17 long, 6 wide and 10.5 tall
and they have the turn signals built in.
I am sure the silver will not match my silver, so I may need to repaint them, but we will see.
They were 123.95 with shipping, I will let you all know how they work and look as soon as I can.

what do you think of them?

Keep a running update as to how you make out with paint and mounting them, looks like a good winter project for me.

They look sharp. Is that a light or a red reflector on the front?

for some reason my computer here at work won't bring up the pics. but your description sounds like the bags i bought on ebay. i am have a thread going to get healp with mounting. i think i am going to try something similar to what snowman has for his eglide bags. the reason is the mounting "straps" that cae with the bags are not very strong, and they bounce a lot.
check out my gallery to compare bags.

I like them as well especially the guards for the bags. That is an important feature IMO.

how do they attach to the bike??

Good lookin' bags for sure. The guard rails will come in handy if you do any weekend or longer bike events where you camp out. I'm able to put my small tent across the back along with my bedroll but I'm always looking for a really good (safe) point for the tie-down straps.

If you do that, be sure to get the nylon hooks on the bugee cords, so you don't screw up the paint or the chrome.

Sorry to be the stick in the mud, but I think they look gawdy! To each his own, and you certainly can't beat the price. If ya like their looks, then ya got a heck of a bargain! Good luck on the fitting. ;)

Thanks all.

And Lynk, I respect your opinion, but I like to carry things like a Rain suit and tools(Not like it ever rains up here, right?)
I have had these saddle bags for 9 years now, there still in good shape and all, but i want to get a new look to my bike.
Ever since i put that fly screen on, it just seems to clash with the bags, well maybe it's just me.

As to mounting, I plan to use my Harley saddle bag brackets to keep them in place.
http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/medium/IMG_0069_edited.jpg

Here's a shot of my bike without the bags on, as you can see, these brackets should give a good solid mounting for the bags.
I do plan to remove the turn signals and use the ones on the bags.
as to the front one, I think it is a reflector, and I hope easily removable.

If these brackets won't work, well Harley makes a set for there's that cost like 35 bucks.

I will see when they get here.

But, hey if all else fails, i did make my own gauge pack and all, i just make it myself.

There a bit longer, but more narrow.
I liked the crash bars around the ones I got, and I didn't have to come up with some type of turn light.

Hi all.

Ok, after watching UPS tracking for days(And it sat for three days in Portland) they finally got here today.

I opened the box up and took them out, and i must say, they are quite awfully.
The paint was chipped, there were all these Fugly blue/green stickers all over it, and the chrome bars were all rusted.
Not to mention the sharp edges on the cross bars that would surely cut your hand.
That red reflector on the front it to cover the hinge, and wile the pictures of the one in his sale are quite think, these ones are paper thin ABS that felt like that would break at the drop of a hat.

I wouldn't give 20 bucks for these things, and there going back.

Well this is the cost of being a Pioneer, sometimes it glory you get, other times it arrows in the backside.

Well here is an update.
Sean and I have exchanged a few e-mail, he is saying that they as a rule do not do refunds.
He tried to give a 20 refund, let keep the bags so I could sell them myself, or send them back and he would send me a new set, if I pay the shipping.
I turned both of those Idea's down.
I could not in good conscious sell these things to anyone, I would just be sticking it to some one else, and that ain't right. And these bags did not match what was in the sale, the wiring was went from 14 gauge wires with connectors to bare speaker wire. The thickness of the ones in the pictures were at least three times thicker then what i got, I pointed this all out to him.
So he said finally that he would take them back, as long as they were not damaged, and I pay a 15% restock charge.

I sent then back to him, insured.
But I think we are not done yet, I told him flat out they came to me damaged, so he is going to see they are and try to send them back to me, I just know this is how it will go.

Thankfully, I used my Visa and I can dispute the charges if it comes to that, I told him in my last e-mail that I fully expected that my pay pal would be refunded no latter then Thursday, as UPS said it will get there on Wednesday.

Bottom line, this guy has a good rep on e-bay, but I feel he is screwing me over, but if I get the 85% back I will leave it be, but I will never deal with this company again.

So far this has cost me 25 for shipping the first time, 12.05 to return them, and if he makes good on the restock, another 14.85, a grand total of 51.90 cents.

The company is Acifica in San Jose California.

I know some here have had good luck with this company, but I think a company can only be judged by how there respond to when things don't go right, like when a customer gets a damaged item.
Charging 15% to return an Item that is F*&$&^D up out of the box is just not right.

I will update you as things progress.

I've been following your listed story with an eBay purchase because I do a lot of online transactions through many vendors, so it's good to be informed about any problems.

You've identified the seller as: Acifica

Is there any other information about that person or company? Any other name?

The reason I ask is that in doing a basic background check within the eBay structure, that seller is no longer a registered user. The listed Feedback Score was fine but the last sale under that name was in mid-January, 2004.

I'd advise that you contact your credit card company immediately and alert them that there might be a scam going on. The credit card company can lock your number, and reissue you a new number and a replacement card. If you provided that person or company with your card info, it would be a month before you'd be aware of any unauthorized purchases.

I'm not saying that is what is going on, but with the kind of problems you've described, it could be a very convenient way to scam people.

Let us know what happens.

Hi JW.

His screen name on e-bay is Evan-2000 and the sellers store's name is Gadgets-to-go.

The e-mail account I have ben talking to him through is the same address, and he asked the item be returned to the same address as it was shipped from. He has not asked for any info like numbers and such, he has then already, so he dose not need them again.

If he asks, I will tell him to mail me a check.

Glad you had more info. What I was seeing looked really scary.

I got scammed on my AMEX card, but they were great with shutting the number off right away.

Keep us informed on your situation. If he "flakes" on you, we can do a mass ride up to his house and rev our engines until he surrenders.... :banana

New Update.

Well, as I thought would happen, Good old Sean is trying to give me the shaft.

He get these POS bags back, and has the nerve to say that I messed them up, and he is refusing to refund my money. I told him in no less then 5 e-mails that these bags were meeded up and unuseable, but he still had me send them back to him.

So I call him on the phone and we get into it, he is still got my money, so i have ben filing the dispute forms and here we go.

But he did want me to file with UPS and claim that they did the damage so they would pay me.
I tried to explain to Sean that if you send a broken item insured , and them claim that the shipper broke it and you want then to pay for it, that is called fraud, and i could go to jail for that.

I will never do a dimes bit a dealing with this company ever again, and i hope no one here were does.

Yo Jeff...

Don't know if it will do any good but I just sent a simple "FYI" note to the seller through the eBay seller link. It wasn't any kind of threatening note or anything like that. It was very simple and I said that some 8,000 members of a forum are following his actions regarding a basic customer complaint and that most eBay buyers tend to make purchases based on word-of-mouth records.

Again, not sure if it will help but I will keep him on the "don't buy from" list since he doesn't seem to be able to deal with unhappy customers or simple complaints.

Just curious, did you contact the credit card people to cancel the transaction? I know they'll stop the payment or whatever, but not sure of the time frame involved in that.

Keep us posted as to how things develop.

Hi all.

Update.

Well, I opened a dispute with Pay pal, we posted a couple of Form responses, and he flat called me a Lair..
I have listed a feedback on him, it's hard in only 120 spaces to But I did call him a Crook!
I have gotten a couple e-mails from People thinking of buying from Sean, BUT I yell them that since we are in dispute, I can not comment on it right now, but to buy from someone that has a clearly spelled out return policy.
I don't know if there his employee;s or friends, so i have to right now watch my p's ans q's.
I have also filed a claim with Visa, no word from them yet, but it says i have 60 days, so not at any time limit.

This has ben nothing short of a Nightmare to deal with, but I have faith that I will come out on top.

Just a few things to add and maybe you did this. Did you take pictures of the condition of the bags when you seen the damage out of the box. Do all your e-mails thru ebays site only, that way you have proof to show ebay.

I had one similar experience thru ebay, selling an old iron case 60s 4speed box. Buyer sheared off one ear of box and Said I sent it that way. After said and done he insured it and sent it back and made a claim.
