Hey did ya happen to see what section this thread is in I'm not talking to the drag racers in the croud here. I'm asking the ones who would actually use something like this for their Touring Sporty.
No Offense Stevo but your into taking things off of yours and I'm into dressing mine up.:doh

I don't see why it wouldn't work; after all, it's essentially a bolt-on box. I wouldn't expect to fit the same quantity you would in an E-Glide's box, but otherwise I wouldn't expect any problems.

Granted, I've never dealt with them before, so I don't know the quality of the walls/locks/hinges firsthand, but you can always contact some of the previous buyers if you're skeptical.

Im thinking I would wanna see one up close, to check out the mounting hardware and fitment.....
Personally, I guess I dont feel a need to take that much stuff. If it dont fit in my saddlebags.... it dont go.

I think this guy is in Canada, so I don't know if theres a tax involved.

This guy I am getting my bags from is in San Jose California.
Since your in Yorba linda, you will have to pay sales tax if you get it from him, but the shipping should be less, and you will get them faster.

Heres the same unit.

That does look like it would fit better. The other trunk was nice looking, but check the dimensions. It seemed pretty small. I use a T-Bag on a removable luggage rack with mini backrest.

It looks great on the scooter, i dont think i'd like any trunk on a sporty personally, why not just a large sissybar bag? it'd be like the same cost after you get the rack.

After seeing the picture of it mounted, I think it really looks out of place. You'd almost need some hardshell saddlebags (a'la Road King) to make it look like it belongs. I was a little suspicious of it at first (personally, I'm not a big fan of topboxes on a Sporty), and seeing it mounted confirms my thoughts. If you do decide to get the box, make sure to design the rest of the rear end so that it all flows together.

I think i could get more on the rack than in that thing, i know i can get pillows, sleepin bag, and a dufflebag all strapped down just on my fender. it'd just stop me from all my Jerry-Rigging...

Hey is missing the wheels and headlights.

It will fit anything you want it to fit, a saw, hammer, bolts and nuts.

Happy fiddling.

i live in the middle of cajun country. don't see too many of them around here. well, okay, none actually. but there is probably a 3 to 1 ratio of pickup trucks to cars here. :wonderlan

I gotta pile on man, that first one is just UUUUUGGGGLLLLY. Like a Honda Civic with a fart-can exhaust and a huge wing. Ick!

Now, I'm a hard bag FREAK!

I don't normally own bikes without hard bags. I haven't had one personally for uhh, let's see, my last 5 bikes have all had them, though only one had a top case.

I'm getting ready to rig a similar, relatively cheap plastic top case for a trip we're taking next week. Similar type of set-up to the last ebay link posted.

It's not gonna win any prizes for looks, but I'm SURE I CAN RIG IT. Of course, I'm taking the mount off as soon as we get home.

So as others have said, you probably CAN rig just about anything. If you've got a detachable luggage rack that would probably not only make it easier to rig, but easier to take off when you don't want it.

Have fun either way,

Kev

I felt the same way so I went with the detachable brackets and can convert from one mode to the other in a few seconds. Don't mind looking like a Mercedes while on "tour" but want to look like a Harley when cruisin'..:banana:banana:banana

I like your tourpack Snowman, it actually looks good on your bike, although the only time you would need that and those saddlebags is on a real long tour, I'm still lookin for a couple e-glide bags, gonna set it up the way those instructions you posted showed how to, just watchin E-Bay, i cant wait lol.

The smaller topcase looks interesting for touring -- secure dry storage with a back rest to boot for lighter items. Mounted on a detachable rack is certainly the way to go.

I do a lot of touring through the mountains and tend not to pack much high on the bike, but rather low in low-mounted saddle bags and then lighter stuff on top of them. The larger hardbag, with the tail lights and turn signals, would be more of a permanent mount that would adversely affect handling in the twisties, IMHO.

I helped a buddy put on of those on a shadow 1100. they are all right you can get a full face helmet and jacket in there .
the mounting hardware that comes with them is junk toss it . what I did was drill some 1/4 inch holes in his luggage rack and got some flat strap 1 inch wide I put 1/4 bolts through the flat strap inside the box and use fender washers and lock washers and wing nuts on the bottom where the bolts come through the rack . all he has to do is turn the wing nuts off and he can lift the whole thing right off his luggage rack . it dont look any cheesier than the tour pack h-d makes for the sporty except for the whale tail . but I wired up some l.e.d., lights in the spoiler and brake lights in the trunk . you can see him stop thats for sure.
