Was wondering about installation of my SE 496 cams, did a conversion with stock 883 heads, on a 98 XLH, cant believe the difference. Had the cams on order but never came in on time. Have to do it now, also have a SE ignition, was wondering about installing the cams with stock ignition as the dealer is about a 3 hour ride, so don't want to put cams and ignition in incase cant get it running with the ignition. Any ideas on using stock ignition temporarly. What should I be watching out for. Thanks

On a '98, isn't the module part of the ignition sensor/pickup, and it needs to come out anyway to install the cams? I know there are 5 pins to come out of the connector and go back in, but it's very simple (black to black, green to green, etc.)

I would be way more worried about lining up the cams properly than installing a new ignition module. If I missed something, please let me know.

If you converted your bike from 883 to 1200 and installed SE bolt-in cams, you can certainly install the ignition module. No trip to the dealer required.

But, if you're worried, ditto on what everyone else said: the ignition will work fine on 883 or 1200, cams or no cams.
