View Full Version : Rear View Helmet mikeabe 17th February 2005, 19:09 Have y'all seen this helmet with a built-in rear view mirror? http://www.reevu.com/ cantolina 17th February 2005, 20:42 I'm gonna look into this more, but this may be the coolest thing I have EVER seen!!!! cypher 20th February 2005, 04:59 This is pretty cool. $400 is a little steep, but I guess it depends on how well it works. Maybe if it gets a little popular, the price will drop a little. I'll definitely look for this at vendors booths and such. willprevale 20th February 2005, 05:15 Would be nice if they posted a few pics from different angles. I'm wondering whatcha see if yer hauling a passenger. Broncodog 20th February 2005, 05:19 Would be nice if they posted a few pics from different angles. Broncodog 20th February 2005, 06:00 I have enough in front of me to worry about..............what's behind me can stay there.....probably a BT :laugh mikeabe 20th February 2005, 15:46 Willprevale. Here's a site that has pictures of the view from inside the helmet. http://blogs.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/10082003104451MIKCA5.htm willprevale 20th February 2005, 15:51 Willprevale. I kin see it all now if I have a passenger, "Hey Louise, move yer blinkin' head so I kin see" Desertfox 20th February 2005, 17:00 This is pretty cool. $400 is a little steep, but I guess it depends on how well it works. Priced a full face SHOEI lately? Desertfox 20th February 2005, 17:02 Willprevale. You don't have to fight fuzzy, vibrating images in your handlebar mount unit. Broncodog 20th February 2005, 17:19 That's not bad at all! Now if they can bring the price down a bit ;) willprevale 20th February 2005, 17:24 I have enough in front of me to worry about............. In substance, that sounds ok but I'm always concerned with who's creeping up on me and where. I wore a half helmet for years until I switched to the Shoei full face. Now I wouldn't consider riding without it. Let's see how that holds in the hot weather. vetthed 20th February 2005, 18:18 I wonder how much of a "blind spot" you have ...think I would still be doing alot of head turnin! flathead45 20th February 2005, 18:25 can't seem to find any reason to trap my head in a helmet, hell I don't even like a skullcap on my head but I gotta keep my hair from knotting up (or do I?) my head, my choice , I don't preach helmets to any one , I also don't tell anyone to not ware one radar 20th February 2005, 18:42 I don't care for the idea of another view inside the helmet, seems it would be a distraction. I'll always turn my head when changing lanes or passing, old habits die hard. My Best cypher 19th March 2005, 15:44 I know I'm late in replying to this thread, but. . . you are right about the price you put on your own head!! My concern, and I don't know how true this is, is that helmets have a "shelf life" of 5 years then you need to replace them due to degradation of the material. I read somewhere that after 5 years, you have to replace whether you dropped it or not. Of course, $400 divided by 5 is not a lot per year, but dang! cantolina 19th March 2005, 15:48 Funny how we change our perspective. I wore a half helmet for years until I switched to the Shoei full face. Now I wouldn't consider riding without it. Let's see how that holds in the hot weather. Personally, I'm moving out of my full-face the moment I can (read:when it gets warm enough).... Hate the lack of peripheral.... and I DON'T want another mirror...all they say to me is NO. ;) GOTWA 19th March 2005, 17:33 I'm all for safety improvements but personally I think that would distract the hell out of me. I know I'm a new rider but I just have a feeling that would not work for me. Besides, some things should require a little work. Keeps you focused and reminds you it is a serious thing you are doing. At least it does for me. Hey Flathead, you figure out a way of keeping your hair from knotting up and not wearing one of those damn leather things, let me know! Chip 20th March 2005, 06:26 Don't really want to know whats gonna run over my a*& when I'm sitting at a light. Would be alot worse when you know its coming and can't do nothing about it. Surprise me and get it over with! |
