I have a quick release detachable compact windshield from HD, the one with the four clamps that doesn't leave any hardware on the bike when detached. I am looking for a bag to put on the windshield. I was at the dealer yesterday and we went through every bag HD sells. None will fit the windshield. They are all too wide to fit between the braces on the shield. We went through the catalog together just in case there was something else. Nothing. So, has anyone found a bag that will fit the quick release compact windshield?

Thanks,
Tom

I haven't had any luck finding one either. Seems like all the bags are 10" wide. Looking for an 8" bag.

There is a smaller one from Biker Bags that is the right length. Problem is the curve of the windshield so that idea didn't work out. I finally used a HD license pate bag and modified it. The mod was to drill the one mounting hole and to use a piece of a plastic ruler for the back band. Cut the ruler to fit inside the band, drill a hole in it to line up with the center mounting screw and the hole one hole in the bag (1/4") and with a longer mounting screw it was good to go. The combo of a zipper and Velcro on the flap works out real well.

When I traded the Road King Custom I used to have I had a windsheild on it that had a bag. My son took the bag off of it and did a little grinding on it and got it to fit on the HD QD windsheild he has on his. It is a tight fit between the braces but he got it in there. You can not tell its been ground on the way it fits between the braces. I wondered where my windsheild bag went and he got it and put it on his :D . We looked around for a smaller bag but did not have any luck. Somebody is bound to make one.

I found a bag for my HD quick disconnect windshield.

It was in the "used bin" at the local Honda dealer. It was made for a Honda VTX1300. Fits perfectly between the two metal brackets.

Mine was only $35. New they are $75 because the are real leather. They have them on Honda's website as accessories for VTX1300. At least they did about a year ago.

It comes with a strap that I didn't use. I drilled a hole in the back of the bag and added a brass grommet. I then attached it via the center stud and acorn nut on the windshield.

here is a pic

I have the HD p/n 58308-95 windshield bag off the Road King on my QD windshield... it will fit, it's tight but it does fit. When you first hold it up, it looks like it is just a bit to wide, but when you actually curve it to match the contour of the windshield, it slide right between the windshield brackets.

New they are $75 because the are real leather.
I checked them out on the Honda website, along with a few other items and now don't feel quit so bad paying HD prices. WOOOAA!! $570.00 for a windshield,$254.00 for a sissybar and pad, $166.00 for sissybar sideplates.......come to think of it, the word Honda does have an H and a D in it. Thanks for the info though, that's a nice looking bag.......have to see if I can find one on sale.

This 9" bag looks like it will fit great (The HD bags are 10"). A little pricy but think I am going to give it a try...

The bag in my avatar or sig is a harley bag and it is on a qd windshield. It was a tight fit. If need be I can look up the number but it will take a couple days.

Check the HD web. They have 2 new bags that fit.

"57220-07

Fits King-Size windshields (except Nostalgic, Flame, and Skull with Wings King-Size), and Compact windshields (except FXSTD, Flame, and Skull with Wings). Does not fit 100th Anniversary logo windshields, models equipped with handlebar mount gauges, or Road Tech™ Riser Mount Radio."

I know that this one fits, I just installed it.

i was having a problem getting any hd bags to fit since they are 10" long
and measuring from bracket to bracket was less than 10". However

put one side of your bag against the reinforcement bracket and
put other side down and take your hand and pull bracket outwards
enough and it will slip down between the two brackets. Bracket
will give enough to get the bag in between and then push the bag
down next to the windshield and it will fasten onto middle screw on
bar. Presto and you are in business. I did this with the qd windshield
off the bike (06 1200xlc)
