I've been looking for a good part of tonight and can't find any that are made. I can handle most stuff on the bike, but when it comes to painting I just flat out suck. I figure I'd at least run across some black replacement covers but I haven't even seen those.

So is there anyway for me to buy them anywhere and not have to take a spray can to my parts?

Powdercoating is the best deal in town. Not to expensive, looks great when done right, very durable, and you wont have to touch any paint cans! You can see my cam and primary covers in my gallery. I think they look great, but you can see for yourself. Here's a link to save you some time, http://xlforum.net/photopost/showgallery.php?mcats=all&si=&what=allfields&name=hybridatsun350&when=0&whenterm=&condition=and . You can see my before and afters there. I don't know if yours looks like mine, but that black totally changed the look of my bike. Hope this helps! :)

Just make sure you find someone who does good work! haha

Well, I have the P/Ns for the 04-06 black cam and tranny case covers, but I know for a fact that these won't fit your 2000 bike. I don't think the factory made pre-04 black covers.

If you want them black and don't like the rattle can paint idea, get them professionally powdercoated wrinkle black. Powder coating will last damn near forever! .... Of course, you will then need to remove them from the engine to get them powdercoated.

I think that this is your only good option.

I have an 03 883R with the wrinkle black engine. I am not sure if that is what you are looking for or not.

I have an '03 wrinkle black primary cover on my silver engine. It cost something like $170 from the dealer. You can get the cam cover from that bike too. I don't know for sure if the '03 covers will fit an '00, sometimes the oil passages in the cam cover change. You dealer should be able to figure out if they are the same.

You can also buy the HD wrinkle paint from the dealer. It requires a bake on after spraying (so I've been told).

The wrinkle black in a can from Harley is very easy, and due to the texture, it is very forgiving. It doesn't take alot of skill, really. You don't have to bake it, you could, but I used a heat gun. Powdercoating is way higher quality, but somewhat more expensive.

Having the stock covers powdercoated is still going to be alot cheaper than buying [new] black covers from H-D.

Get them professionaly powdercoated .... the coating will last forever
