You panning on shortening the springs? Do not forget to lower the front also! Get that lower frame rail even with the ground!
I have struts on mine, 10" eye to eye, forks tubes raised about 1 1/4", and the kickstand is still useable.

Hell yes I want to shorten the springs!!! :D Does anyone know how to take these darn shocks apart??? I already have the lowest lowering kit I could find for the rear, but look at the distance between my rear tire and the rear fender. It's hidious!!! :yikes

Also, why do I need to lower the front also. I mean I was planning on it, but I didn't know it was a requirement.

There is a shop that will shorten your shocks, it is talked about in a couple threads here. I can't remember the site. Something like MBproducts.com , maybe? Anyway i believe it costs about $70. Goob luck.

It's not a requirement but if you want to retain any kind of handling, it's strongly suggested.

Dude, you can!! I've taken apart several, all you have to do is get the springs compressed. Do this by using metal hose clamps. Run the clamps, 4 of them, around a few coils of the spring, and tighten. You will take the tension off of the end of the shock which simply screws off. Then you can cut your springs with a dremel, or whatever, and reinstall. The last set I shortened was on my Wife's Kawasaki, lowered the rear an 1 3/4". Goodluck.

Check out the line of progressive shocks. A nice pair of 11" s will do nice to lower the bike. The cost is a little bit more than shortening the springs but they work great.

I haven't had a chance to cut the springs yet, but I will post results when I do. There has been too much good weather to tear down the bike. :p
