HD makes a Cafe Fairing for the new 04s- does anyone have a Sportster with this fairing that could post a pic? I remember a 04 Orange Roadster on this forum with one.... :tour

Yes it is different. Your picture shows the headlight cover...the fairing is a good deal larger.

Is it the same 3/4 fairing as the pre 04's?

Best pic so far and confirms less than pleasing appearance - like some kind of effin' clam shell, no offense to user.

Wonder what H-D designers were thinking when they brought it to production.

Needless to say, still doesn't beat look of a Rifle Roadster although, once again, beauty is ....

the pic in the previous post they call a quarter fairing on H-D's site.

They dont neccessarily call either one a cafe fairing although I think the headlight visor looks more sporty, and I would call a cafe fairing. Resembles the arlen ness cafe fairing more than the quarter fairing also. But that is just my opinion.

It should take you to a pic of decked out 1200R with the visor.

If it doesn't work, go to the HD site, find "Customize Your Harley" and when the page loads, there should be a scroll on it with thumbnails of various HD models, click on the Roadster and the picture should come up.

I think that the 1/4 fairing looks better than it appears in the posted photo. I sure would like to see a whole Sportster from the side or front quarter with the fairing.

it's a little too bulky for my tastes. I like the headlight visor because it is more minimal, and tighter on the front. imo

Hey...that's not the headlight visor, it's the fairing (the HD fairing?)at last!!! Hmmm....can't decide if I like the looks. I'll bookmark that picture so I can think on it for a while.

Good 1/4 fairing pic and interesting products notwithstanding, anybody else notice "Cincinnati" and even "Sportster" are misspelled on <http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/index.htm>? Kinda' reminds me of spam from shady outfits. Makes one wonder about their overall quality control.

If anything, their web master should be taken to the wood shed.

I finally purchased the HD 1/4 fairing in prime coat, in case I didn't like it and wanted to resell. Well folks, as ugly as some think it is, I think it looks and works great! Had it painted Black Pearl at a local shop for $100. I have pictures but no scanner. I'll post when I figure out how.

I finally figured out how to post pictures of the 1/4 fairing in the Gallery. They need some resizing, but take a look.

I resized two and uploaded to my server. I think the 3/4 faring looks cool and it’s probably a whole lot more effective than the headlamp visor. :clap

You need some kind of photo editor on your computer. Your computer probably came with something, or digital cameras usually come with an editor. I use Paint Shop Pro. Download.com probably has something for free.

Just put this on today. Got it on E-Bay, and re-painted it this weekend.

I don't think I'm "In Love" with the looks..........but I'll tell you it makes a HUGE difference in the comfort of the ride.:banana
I tend to speed a little:roflblack :roflblack :roflblack , and with this on there, 80 mph is real comfortable now:) You aren't fighting to hang on to the bars:doh

I rode today in a 30 mph wind and it wasn't an issue with something breaking the wind. (I WASN'T BREAKING WIND!:roflblack )

For those of you that have had some wobbeling issues.......this will improve that:clap I'm not saying it eliminated it........but it is improved due to less aero drag / buffeting from the upper body. Larger picturea are on the Gallery, or e-mail or PM me and I'll send them to you.

I don't have the P/N with me.....Go to the HD web site and look under windshields. They show it there. If you don't find it let me know.

As for the detach system.....it's pretty simple.........brackets slide into a couple grommets in the bottom and top and a spring clip holds it. I don't see it coming off while riding.:clap

I second that. My 1/4 fairing uses the same docking hardware as my Super Sport Det. windshield. I prefer the looks and the performance of the fairing...more aerodynamic than the windshield...less wind buffeting and it does the most important part of what the windshield does...takes the "push" off my chest. When you check the P/N, be aware that there is a separate # for primed and each color.

It uses the same docking hardware as the detachable windshields. I received my vivid black 1/4 fairing this week, along with the matching hard saddlebags ... but I have to wait about another month before my '06 XL1200R arrives. Another dealer has the same bike on his showroom floor, but his price is way out of line.

The Venus de Milo might as well jump out of that thing. Has anyone ever tried adapting an old Buell S2 fairing? I'm thinking about trying that on my baby.

I'm currently thinking of how to paint my quarter fairing and spoiler. It will probably be half-matt black, or matt grey, with some kind of checker flag scheme. I'll consider buying the laminarlip if the fairing is insufficient.
