View Full Version : My version of the sport bagger
pperrone 16th June 2006, 03:45 My bags aren't as big as snowman's, and neither is my tour pak. But it suites me perfectly.:clap Someday in the distant future I plan to paint them and the oil and battery covers to match the tins. I also plan to put on a firing, just probably won't be as big as snowman's either. I love your bike, Snowman, hope you don't get upset about me labeling mine a sport bagger also, I don't know what else to call it, other than mine!:luvsport
The bags sit a little high right now, but I think the use of easy brackets later on will lower them.
Anyway, wa'cha think?!?!?!

Kev M 16th June 2006, 13:32 Unique, I like.
Is the tour pack mounted for quick-release? How about the bags?
I like taking that sorta stuff off for cleaning or maintenance, though those bags are high enough that they don't look like they'd interfere too much.
I do think it will look better with the bags lowered a bit (not to mention, do you carry a passenger? cause they almost look like they would interfere with his/her legs).
AZFlyingDiver 16th June 2006, 13:49 I think it's unique too, in a good way. Nice job! Mine I'd call a Sport-Cruiser-Tourer?! Here 'tis (dressed to tour - shield and rear pack come off most times)...

semjpm 16th June 2006, 15:27 AZFlyingDiver: Could you tell me which rack bag that is and how it attach's? I looks like it doesn't need to go over the sissy bar pad - which is good.
Thanks in advance,

snowman 16th June 2006, 15:32 I think it looks good! All dressed up and ready to cruise....:banana:banana:banana
Kev - - the location of the bags should be good for the passenger legs. They should go around them.....:tour:tour:tour
Gone 16th June 2006, 15:40 is a farring a requirement to be a bagger?
snowman 16th June 2006, 15:42 is a fairing a requirement to be a bagger?
Nope. Usually just hardbags... About the size of Michigan!!:roflblack:roflblack:roflblack
pperrone 16th June 2006, 16:00 Unfortunately, none of it comes off quickly, aka quick-release! It is all bolted on. I had my wife sit with one bag on, she sad they will be just fine. One day I hope to make it all quick release, and maybe bigger bags.
A fairing is just something I'd like to have. When I can afford it, the Rifle Roadster fairing made for Harley bikes.
Snowman, How was your trip to the Dragon? Got Pics?

Trip was excellent!!!!!! Took some pics of the bike show in Asheville (nothing earth shattering) and I made a digital recording of the ride on the Tail:smoke
Sent that to Bert yesterday and he said he'll put it on the web/server when he gets it (all 19 minutes of it)....:banadevi:banadevi:banadevi

Until it's quick release (since the wife fits), since it will probably allow for easier access to the rear tire, rear brakes and rear axle, I'd leave em where they are.
If you set up a quick release system, then lower em...
at least, that's what I'd probably do.

Cool picture of the small town gas pumps and your bike.

It's an H-D bag - just straps on to the rack (and not over the sissy bar pad as you saw).

vicks44 19th June 2006, 02:29 Here mine is loaded and ready for a weekend with other XL forum members for the KY/IN run
http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/6-10-2006-26.jpg
snowman 19th June 2006, 02:38 Any problem with balance, or does it just look top heavy???:yikes
vicks44 19th June 2006, 03:07 Kinda like having a nervous rider. Everything heavy is loaded low, lighter up high, and I get use to it after about 20 or so miles
Gone 20th June 2006, 16:39 Snowman,
I sat on speedways bagger while on the KY/IN XL run, the way it was loaded it still had great balance, and he could lean back and relax and roll on down the road. that was a sweet set up i must say.
I have considered making mine a soft side bagger, I just need to relocate the rear TS, make my big saddle bags detachable move them back for passenger comfort, and add a sissy bar for my T Bag and roll bag.
