My buddy and his girlfriend and my wife and I decided to head to Elk River today from Pullman. On the ride there (10'ish) it started to get fairly cold and dark clouds rolled in but the weather held and it eventually got sunny and warm. The road between Bovill and Elk River was awesome as usual.
Elk River was hopping as there was an ATV poker run in progress. Elk River normally has ATV's running all over town (or snowmobiles in winter) but there was a lot more than normal.
We had lunch at the Elk River Cafe. They make the best burgers! If you are ever there, make sure you try one of their burgers. Also, get something huckleberry as well. Anyway, as we were getting ready to leave, a guy on an Aprilia pulled up and asked to use their phone. He was riding with a group and one of the riders nailed a deer. He said the rider was OK and his gear worked.
On the ride home, we passed the scene...lots of bikers in the group. There was a huge pile of parts and plastic. I didn't see the deer, but the passengers did and they thought it looked like it was ripped in two.
Hope the rider is OK. I spent a lot of time scanning the road for deer on the ride home.
