MCNews has it listed at 12.99, but I think that is done in a way that takes rider reaction time out of the equation so you would never get a number like that in real life.

Motorcyclist lists a 2004 Roadster at a corrected 13.03 and 100.03 mph. Since 2005 Custom is about the same bike it should be about the same.

I ran a 13.4 on a 100 degree day in the desert when I was stock and only 200 miles on the speedo

How much effect does rider weight have? I'm running 13.3's with a taxes paid 04 custom. I have the 30 tooth belt drive cog, which is apparently having some effect (or else I'm really bad) :frownthre . I also weigh 100kg and have a few extras on the bike like rack, sissy bar etc. Oh, I'm also running in the tropical north of Aust where we have only had two meetings this year where the humidity remained below 90% (read: I hope I'd be quicker in more dense air).

Narley, I know that you know your stuff so I'm asking if you really think that a rubbermount 1200 with a 220 lb rider along with a few extra pounds of accessories could achieve an ET in the high 12s? I'm not sure that you noticed his weight. If so, that's pretty awesome!

Assuming the bike weight of 550, rider 220 and 10lbs extra gear for a total weight of 780lbs, it would take approx. 70hp to run a 12.99. I have a rubbermount XL50 but have never had it dynoed. I would think that with stage one it would be possible for sure. Can't say about bone stock cause I don't know what they're making these days.

With your 30 tooth cog I'd say you are right on the money at your weight!!!

Seems like a proper stage 1 should do the trick at 70+ hp. A genuine "muscle" machine.

I bought an XL50 for the missus. Compared to the carbed bike, it feels much more responsive and revs out nicely. That's stock, she doesn't want me to mess with it:(

I'm not sure it has any more in the top end than my carbed bike, just better down low.

I'd love to find out for sure :tour

I've seen the opposite down low with one carbed bike compared with one EFI bike on a roll on, so I suppose it depends upon the machines. It was only a small difference and, on average, they've got to be just about the same power wise while I'll grant you that the EFI has a different feel. H-D specs have the carbed bike coming in with peak torque at 3,500 rpm while the EFI bike's peak torque is listed as coming in at 4,000 rpm. How much that means in the real world is a question as we can't look at the torque curve to see the differences at various rpm. There's certainly no major difference between the two power wise and I don't think that you could notice anything by hopping off one average bike and going to the other as far as power differences are concerned. Again, I'm talking about averages and not your machines.

I'd really like to visit a track someday. Is there a link for drag strip locations?
I'm in CT.

Peace,
Mark

What method did you go with to reset your speedo after the 30 tooth front pulley? How many rpms did it shave off?

Dunno but the rubbermount 883 is a pretty heavy bike for 40 some rear wheel HP (in stock form) to push around in a drag race. Racing another 883 Sporty may be your best bet.

find a track here:

http://www.chasinracin.com/track-locator/

but be careful, it can be addicting, and become very expensive.

The 30 tooth is the factory pulley for international models. I'm in Oz. Must be to drop the revs for emissions rules for drive-by testing. And you guys think Calif is bad for epa rules!

Mid 13's is about right in "the real world". Of course computers are easy to get into the 12's...
