Last night at the drags was a hoot. 7 bikes where there and I was the only Harley. Shift lite was working like a dream and made it to the final. I was racing against a friends Bandit with a pro pipe. The same pipe I run on my suz and I guess it was pay back time cause you can't hear a thing when the other guy is on the throttle. Anyhow it was a double breakout and I broke out more. Still 2nd is better than 3rd. Did run my all time best ET and MPH so sit down before you hurt yourself...... 8.38 at 81.58
With a chain conversion it should be in the high 7's

Thanks all

I strapped the front end and with my 230lb butt with forward controls it was not going to wheelie at all. With the throttle at WOT I just let the clutch out quickly. Did have a 1.90 sixty footer too. I also just order the 520 conversion from Trak-Tek and will see how that goes.

Eh? How would the chain make a difference? My best 1/8th is 8.269/84.62 on a 1/4-mile 13.033/100.85. I'm running the stock belt right now, and have made some significant modifications since that run (in particular, the cams). My plan is to purchase a conversion from Chris, but how would it lower my ET?

Edit: Oh! I'm guessing that you're planning on a drive ratio change, along with the chain. Congratulations on the second-place finish!

Jack the rear of the bike off the ground and with it in neutral spin the rear wheel. I bet it won't even spin one complete turn due to the drag between the pullies-belt teeth and how tight it is. Now on my Suzuki dragbike with a chain it will spin 7 times before coming to a stop. That drag does cost more HP just to spin the wheel as apose to pushing the bike forward. You may not feel it on the street but get it to a track and the timeslip will tell the truth.

As for gearing you're fine on the streets but again at the track you'll find out it's a dog. You can read a book, clean your glasses or relace your boots going down the track waiting for the next gear change. I'm running 27/61 now and shift into 3rd about 100 ft before the traps. With a 20/50 that should get me closer to redline 6800 in 3rd. I'd like to get 90mph in the 1/8 and may drop down to a 19 tooth upfront if i'm not crossing the line at max rpm's in 3rd.

So anytime you can reduce drag and increase gearing you will pickup some speed. Best thing is when it get's back on the streets it will be alot more fun stoplite to stoplite.

When my kit gets here I'll post the time's and results. It should make this custom alittle more faster

Well I do have a GS 1395cc Suzuki with all the stuff, delay box, 2step, slick, lectrons, lockup, bars, nitrous, etc, etc. It's alot of fun racing it but sometimes I like to race the no box guys. So I'm going to just do a few things to my Sportster but still keep it streetable like the chain conversion, engine kill for shifting and the shift light.

Trying to cut a good light on the 3rd amber with the hand clutch and feather the clutch for a good 60ft too. Cause once you crossover to the darkside it's darn easy cause all you do is take you thumb off the switch when the top amber is on. If you red lite or just too slow then dial in or remove some time out of the box until you reach your RT goal and just hold on for the ride hitting the air shift button as you go.

May start bring two bikes to the track to race now.
