My '89 front signals are dual filament (running light and blinker), my rears are single fialment (blinker only). I've been looking at the Deuce bullet trun signal kit availabe from HD, says that it'll fit XL '90-'03. I'm guessing the rears on '90-up are dual filament?? I looked at the mounting points, and it's all the same.

So my question is...how easy/hard can it be to wire up the dual filamet rears to my bike? The Deuce turn signals have 3 wires, while my existing front has 2 and the rear has 1 . I'm guessing on the Deuce lamp, 1 is running, 2 is blinker and 3 is ground (am I correct on the ground wire or are they internally grounded at the bulb base?)?? I'm guessing that I can splice in the #1 wire in with the tail light to make it work as a running light, hook up #2 to where my existing signal lamp is (blinker) and #3 would be ground...??

I installed sigs on my '88. uses just 2 wires. both sets have running and blinkers. The old wires were cut back and taped. I just hooked 'em back up again. Works fine. If you need to know where the wires are attached I can check it out this weekend.

The rear turn signals on the '00 - '03 (maybe more) are single filament. The factory may be implying that the extra filament just doesn't get used when you put these turn signals on an XL.

Your idea sounds good though for hooking up the extra filament to the rear tail light.

I've been looking at a "deuce style" signal lamp from http://www.jirehcycles.com/ , basically the same as MidWest, but you can buy direct. Amazing on how much $$ you can save. But anyhow, the kit they have, 8-269, which is actually kit #045-8503 from http://www.instantop.com/CyclePage/ChrisProducts.htm

The HD kit has 2-wire lights, and the Chris Products kit has 3-wire lights...hhhhmmm

I emailed Custom Chrome about it, because they offer both the Chris Product 3-wire lights, and the HD 2 wire lights. The 3-wire lights are like I suspected, 1-running, 2-blinker 3-ground. So it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks...
