Well after a thread started earlier today I thought I would start a poll and a thread for everyone to share pics and info about there animals. My pets I have is a white with green eyes bullcat/angoria cat mix(Milk) he weights around 15 lbs, two dogs a Laso Apso(Harley my first Harley also, LOL!! I think he kinda looks like a biker in a way.) he is white and dark gray my other dog is a Husky(Phantom) he is 8 months old and is a silver/black/white with blue eyes, I have three rabbits two are lope ears(Stoney and Onyx) and one is a blue Lion Head(Boomer), and a Guini Pig(Spaz) and he is mostly white with a dark brown and light brown spot on his one eye. This is my first poll and thought it would be nice to see what animal or animals you have and also to see some pics.

Great looking birds, I have been wanting to get a parrot or cockatiels but my wife says no she is a neat freak and she thinks birds are to messy she says the same thing about fish. But once we are buying are house I will have both hopefully a bird for my den and a fish tank in my office and den so she dosn't have to see them all the time. I've got two dogs (both are a mix of blue heeler, great pyrenese, and Australian sheperd) and a mountain boomer (commonly refered to as a collared lizard). I'm about ready to start up an aquarium, but I've got to go to the pet store and get some more stuff for it before I add the fish.

After I bought my new '05 1200C last summer, my wife decided she should get the purebred dog she has always wanted, a border collie. She calls him Rowdy thought my daughters thought he should be named Payback. Besides Rowdy we have Prince, a 12 YO border collie cross, two cats, Wilbur and Otto, and a goldfish.

Skeeter looks about the size of my cat whats his weight

Just weighed him... fifteen pounds! Just a little guy! Canned shrimp is his favorite treat, but he doesn't get it very often... He turns into a big, cooing baby-talker when he knows shrimp is in the house! ;-)

Yeah my cat loves his food he needs to go on a diet I think just had to take down one of his boxes and lay the other one on its side so he could get to his litter box he wasn't able to jump up to it anymore. That and I think he is getting old. We were using two 2-12" speaker boxes one taller then the other now he just uses the short one on its side and his food on top of his litter box. The funny thing is though he dosn't like shrimp for some reason.

Well another thing my wifes dog Harley ran off today he keeps doing it and has only come home 2-3 times. We decided if he dosn't come back he needs to go to someone that can keep track of just him. He has ran off like 10 times in the last 3 months. I don't think he his happy with us he was doing it before the Husky but even more now that we got him.

I had a Samoyed that would run down to the grocery store at the opposite end of the valley... and sit and wait for a neighbor to give her a ride home! This was a loooooonnnnng time ago when I was a teenager and all the dogs hung out in their front yards with no problems... When she had pups the pop would hike down from the hill and take one of the pups with him up into the hills... came back a day or two later... Sammys like to roam...

Hope Harley comes back safely...

Best dog I've ever had. And a rescue to boot. Let me warn you though if your thinking of getting one there quite a handfull. Do your research and make sure your absolutely sure it's the dog for you. Dopey is actually an American Staffordshire Terrier. Same family bred for the show ring.

H@mbone!
13th July 2006, 03:53
Saltman-I was thinking he was a American Staffordshire Terrier, but most think there Pits. I do know alot about Pits and Staffordshires. Me and my wife was both raised arount them. My dad now has a red and white Staffordshire she isn't near as big but is finally starting to put on her muscle. I love Pits they just have a bad rap they are actually great family dogs and very loyal if raised right. One thing I know is you have to be a little rough with them because besides haveing a tough skull they have a high pain talerance and don't fell much. Thats about the only way to have a obiediant pit. Most people think its wrong or mean but they are the ones that have usually never had a pit. I am wanting to find a blue brindal, or some other type of blue pit. Me and my dad raised the last one he had from a pup. He lived to about 8-9 years but was hit by a car and his back legs were paralized he only lived a few months after that. They are really good dogs for my dad when he is on the road in his truck he has never had no worries leaving his truck unattended with them in it. His female now is alot more territorial of the truck then his male was but she has been in the truck since she was a pup so its her home. She just looks evil when shes in charge of watching the truck. Anyways thanks for shareing your pics.

saltman241
13th July 2006, 04:08
Well you sound like you've got some experience around them. I've found any type of physical corrections to be basically useless with him. He responds much better to a harsh tone and withdraw of toys or attention. He loves people and personal interaction so much that to take that away from him is damn near torture. Works like a charm. He can be a bit bull headed (hence the name I guess) but he's insanely intellegent and wants nothing more than to please. The bad rap thing is very unfortunate much like guns the responsiblity and blame should be placed soley on the owner. Rescues are packed full of pits who'll never see the light of day again simply because of the sensationalist media and the stereotypes they perpetuate.

This is Eha (four). She has four white socks. And her sister, Hulu (hair, or hackles), she gets her hackles up a lot. There's a third, Rocky, not shown. Two of 'em are going to be eaten, the one left is the pet. We're holding an "American Idol" swine version to see who the superstar gets to be.
We also have three dogs, four cats, 2 field mice, 2 mynah birds (they talk really well), 35 or so rabbits (the babies get eaten by us), three ducks and eight chickens. Oh, and a gazillian honey bees. whew

Tuvan
13th July 2006, 08:25
Tuvan do all of those dogs and cats sleep inside your house?
And I have trouble taking care of one little pita poopy pants brat!

no only 4 of the dogs do poor diogee hates females (my aunt had him when he was a puppy and beat him and he remembers so all females are fair targets) and when he passes we will never have another dog we have to keep outside it just isnt fair to them

and only 1 of the cats comes in the house, the other 5 unfortunately live in a cage out back atm cause we live in a subdivision where for oh bout the first 7 years or so we were here our cats roamed free. Then this city prick moved in 2 lots down and well complained about our cats saying they were destroying his john boat and he took my parents to court wanting them to buy him a new boat. It was actually the powder chemical fire extenguisher he kept in the boat rusting the bottom out of it and to think a firefighter would know this:laugh. Then he took pictures of our cats running free, he took pics of them in our front yard and the judge laughed him out of court. But the Home owners association made a big fuss bout cats that ran free and his jackass self happened to be on the board at the time. So we had to build a cage for them but thats ok. my parents are about to buy a house on 20 acres out away from neighbors. Thats 20 acres for our horses to run free on (since they are borded at a facility that is 30 mins away so we dont get to see them that often) and 20 acres of small critters for the cats to terrorize:banana :roflblack

Oh yea and one more thing to add
Dont Breed or Buy while homeless animals Die

Xena he is a beutiful pit. Don't see to many of them with uncropped ears. I'm depating when I get one if I'm going to crop the ears or not. The last two my dad has had he left uncropped. Makes them less of a target if people don't know there pits. We told everyone his red nosed colby was a yellow lab and most people bought it. His shafford is a little harder to pass off.

Well again my wifes dog ran away again when he got a change, he come back but we decided to give him to a friend of hers that want's him for a companion for his female Shitz Zu. We told him he likes to run and he is fine with it so that is good. I love him but he keeps running away and I can't afford $20 everytime he runs off to pick him up from the pound. Also tommorow I am going to pick up a male Pitbull to give my Husky a playmate. They are 8 weeks old one has a white head with black ears and the other one has half black/half white face and I think he said they are a dark brindal I will take pictures tommorow after I choose the one I want and post on here.

I say leave 'em uncropped. Around this area almost ALL the dogs are left uncropped anymore. Boxers, pits, danes, all of 'em.

I'll second that. There's absolutely no reason to crop there ears unless you plan on showing them. If it's just gonna be a pet why put them through the pain/healing possible infection process. Plus like you said it's alot easier to avoid the stigmatism of having a "killer". I swear if I gotta hear one more time how I need to watch out and that I can never totally trust him cause one day he'll snap crap again I'll spew! Definetly post some pics!

If I get him I will post some pics later tonight of the one I pick out. Probbley get one no matter what can't beat a free pure breeded pit. Thats how we got the Kumo are male we had when I was growing up. We were comeing back from vacation and a couple were moveing and seen them at a ice cream joint and they couldn't keep him. They kept there other two pits but he was a baby and to hard for them to keep on the move. He was about 10-12 wks old at the time I think. It worked out good because my dad right before we left on vacation lost his little Yorkie and the other Yorkie we brought with us raised him as her baby. Kinda funny to think about it she was the only Yorkie my parents have that liked him she would chase him around and play with him and clean him. He weighed about 110 lbs and she only weighed about 5lbs. Anyways I'll post some pics later on.

Alaskan Husky, Miniature Pinscher & Sharpei mix. A 5 yr. old 39 lb ball of 365/24/7 energy. If sh'es relaxed and chillin' she looks like a shepard, if something grabs her attention, she looks like a Pinscher. If she's not sure what's going on, her forehead wrinkles and the Sharpei comes out. I have photos of all three looks ..somewhere.

Actually all breeds can be shown now WITHOUT cropping ears. In fact they've banned cropping in England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Portugal, Australia, and recently France.

Do you have any baby pics of Molly!I love baby donkeys! They are frickin adorable. Is is difficult to take care of a mule?

Sorry no baby pictures. I totally agree though baby mules are sooooooo cute.

I'm not sure if you are talking donkeys and mules or are combining them into one. I'll just jot down what I think I know.....

donkey is a breed.........donkey + donkey = donkey
male donkey + female horse = mule
a male donkey is called a jack ( jackass)
a female donkey is called a jenny
mules cannot reproduce because they are sterile except for the freak occasion.

No, I have not found it difficult at all to take care of a mule (s). They think a little different than a horse. A mule lives by the life philosophy of " self preservation ." ( read that in a mule book and it makes complete sense to me ) Once you understand that then you start getting a better understanding of their behavior. Mules are very loyal and love to be treated with respect. Mules have the nature ( genes...disposition) as well as nurture ( how they are raised ) issues just like all else. So sure there are some misbehaving mules out there but for the most part my experiences have been with pretty good mules. Mules do odd things and can be stubborn at times but it all comes back to "self preservation"

Like one time I was leading Molly out of the gate.....the horse she loves was already through the gate.....well Molly thought she was going to be left behind I guess so she barrels through the gate leaving me in the dust...except....I quickly looped the rope two wraps around the fence post and when she came to the end of the rope......it surprised us both I think.....she was stopped on a dime ....sat her right back on her haunches.....and I had to replant two fence post after that. She never tried that again.

OK, get me talking about mules and I'll never stop........
Thanks for asking.

EDIT: The "self-preservation " theory....A theory I believe in when trying to understand the logic and thinking process of a mule. Other people believe other things I'm sure. Mules can be a handful from time to time.

Here is another of our pets, Thelonius Monk. He is a Monk Parrot. This was taken soon after we got him, My wife found him in the yard. We put up signs, he was obviously a pet, but nobody claimed him. I couldn't take this picture now, he hates me and will try to kill me. He used to like me, but he bonded to my wife, and once he saw us hugging he attacked me. I am his "Love Rival". Usually when I tell people about this, they say "why would you keep him if he hates you and would attack you?" I say "It makes my wife happy. she could always use a little more happiness."

The Schnauzer is Suzy, 10 and the Poodle is Sable, just turned 18 which is exceptionally old for a standard poodle. It will be a rough time when she leaves us. But, the way she runs around the house at breakfast and dinner time it may be awhile.

to Moker: you should be able to easily find several breeders of Sphynx in your area but I would highly suggest you go and meet some before jumping in. Try a Cornish Rex, they are more fun and a bit less expensive usually! I got Mr. Jade from Stacy at classytouch.net - My [ex] wife and I chose him because she was allergic to cats and was not to the rexes. [this is not ALWAYS the case but she was ok with him]. in either case, go and meet some of the cats first! Best Regards, Joe.

We have an honest-to-goodness menagerie around here --- just like when I was a kid.

Current census: 2 dogs, 1 cat and 3 bearded dragon lizards + a few fish. Recently had to put down a 14-yr-old cat, dreadful for my 16-yr-old daughter because she has been sleeping with him every night since she was 2.

The dogs are as sweet as can be, the "real" beagle thinks my son is her puppy and they sleep all entwined in a "beagle pile". And before anyone says anything--- the lizards are sisters and always hang out like that!

I contacted the buyer wanting to buy her back, but turns out she sold her 6 months after she bought her from me and didn't respond when I asked her to have the person call me so I could at least find out how she is :(

What, your wife is scared of the vacuum cleaner, or of the dog?

What is it about vacuum cleaners? My three cats hate it. We could have a film on really loud, with gunfire, explosions, and crashing cars, and they don't care at all, but switch on the vacuum, and they're gone!

I guess he kinda looks like that, but some say MinPin Mix. The vets are kinda up in the air, when I asked. His body is VERY lean, unlike dachsund, or chihuahua. He has long legs also? Body wise, he built like a miniture Greyhound!! Funny huh!? :laugh

Used to have a couple of cats, one got ran over, the other ran off.

We've still got the dog though, his name is Rex, he's about 105 pounds, Akita/German Shepherd mix, this is not a dog you want to piss off. On top of his size he's a damn escape artist, when he was a pup he would get out and then come back, we didn't even realize for awhile until our neighbor told us and we went out back and there he was, then we went out once and he wasnt there, went back out about an hour later and he was just laying around sleeping... He's chased off a couple of thieves from a neighbors house as well, pretty useful mutt, a little on the unpredictable side though. I'll have to go digging around to find some pics and scan them.

That's funny Rider... The dog across the street waits until his owner drives down the street and then hops over the fence and spends the day checking out the neighborhood and visiting anyone outside... Then hops back over when he gets hungry or needs water or hears his car coming up the street... :p

Cora is really friendly and loves the attention everyone showers on her, but Shannon doesn't like most girls and has an attitude about almost everything. They both like the moss hanging from the trees and will stretch to their tippy toes to reach it.

We live on their owners' property so we get to enjoy them everyday. They wake us with their trumpeting and playing in the am.

Great looking pics of your dogs Kevin and Steve. Sorry about your loss Kevin he looks like he was a great looking shepard. Steve what type of dog is Tater?? He looks like a Mastiff or some type of bull breed.

HOLEY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN!!???!!??!

I did a little research and some comparisons and have discovered that Tater is indeed part mastiff, he's half blue pit (I've seen the bitch) but daddy was not present when I picked up Tater, I've since seen a pic of daddy and he's damn sure a mastiff, you can see it in Taters face plain as day.
