a friend of mine just had his '92 883 primary chain break. The bolt for the starter motor loosened and broke the primary chain when it got stuck between the clutch hub and the chain. It broke the primary cover when the chain got collected in there. When we spin the clutch hub there is a very slight wobble. Is that normal or is the something bent? thanks

Sounds like the input shaft of the trans might have been bent when the chain bunched up between the clutch and the primary cover. Best thing to do is take the clutch apart until you get to see the shaft and if the shaft has a wobble then it will probibly need replacement.
