View Full Version : Relocated Rear Turn Signals, left big ugly holes...
ecworks 22nd July 2006, 06:51 After relocating my rear turn signals to my new HD license plate bracket the fender brackets (chromed cover) now have 2 holes in them including a recessed area where the turn signal fairing/bracket used to be. Is there anyway to clean this up short of installing the sissy bar bracket?
roadster 22nd July 2006, 07:06 Spackle it up using a trowel.
MidWest XL 22nd July 2006, 12:45 I would guess that HD probably has some chrome buttons that fit in those holes.
johnnybgood 22nd July 2006, 12:48 Yeah, they do make chrome buttons to cover the holes. I used my stock reflectors to cover the holes.
SpartanDen 22nd July 2006, 13:35 How about some pics???
Hoowasat 22nd July 2006, 14:51 I installed some 5/16" stainless steel button-head bolts to fill the holes. If I was into chrome, I could polish the bolt heads.
tcspannerwrench 23rd July 2006, 00:31 Yeah, they do make chrome buttons to cover the holes. I used my stock reflectors to cover the holes.
I will ask "if someone could post a pic of these on thier bike" i would be very thankfull
i am interested but would like to see a pic before going further

johnnybgood 25th July 2006, 01:36 By the way..... I can't take credit for this idea. I saw a picture on here from another member. Can't remember who it was, but thanks for the cheap and easy fix.
Prebs 22nd August 2006, 01:48 I just relocated my turn signals too.. I had it done at HD because I'm not that handy and patient to do it. and 2 hole were there. they told me they didnt have any "plugs" hanging around.. they were to damn lazy to find some. I went to another dealer. and said one hole was to be plug with a chrome "button" type thing other was a screw. I got 2 chrome buttons and they SUCK they dont go in easy .. banged them in with a hamer covered it with a towel to not damage bike.. doesnt go in well and the little teeth bent off one of them. the reflector is a cool idea and decent way to cover the holes or just use to bolts like on the other areas on the fender :)
phantom 22nd August 2006, 01:55 Check out J&P cycle catalog Page991 lower left corner of page.I put these on my bike after relocation.Worked very well

Did it with the cover off.
rtv on the button and bent the little teeth out flat on the inside.
Look lousy, but I couldn't find a cover with no holes to replace it.
Sorry for the pic quality, but it's night time here.
Larger pic in my gallery.
phantom 22nd August 2006, 02:34 Check out my gallery- new paint pix. It's the only pix I have.Iput sissy bar back on so you can not see.
Prebs 22nd August 2006, 03:32 Thanks i checked out pics.. the buttons dont look bad at all... i have sissy bars but not detachable .. Im thinking of putting my saddle bags back on so it wont be noticeable after i do that. But till then i will plug them as well some how keep them in. thanks again.
wagoneer12 22nd August 2006, 03:48 If you got a black rear fender, just take the chincy chrome strut cover completely off.

you're welcome :wonderlan
i couldn't get the chrome buttons to stay in, and they looked cheesy anyway (no offense to those who have done this)
oooh, ooooh, ooooh, 3 people (including myself) doing this, does this mean i get a mod named after me? course, the 'skratch mod' doesn't really sound like something you would want to do.... 'i just did the skratch mod...' 'oh, was there too much gravel on the road' :yikes
41caninek1 29th August 2006, 22:11 I removed my turn signals as well and used Bungee nuts to fill the holes. Useful too.
