All,

I have a 06 883R, so far I have paid taxes, fitted the Wiseco 9.5:1 reverse dome conversion and used the SE ignition race tuner to load the 1200 map and raise the rev limit to 7000 rpm, very happy with the results so far, this winter I plan on stage two head work & cams, I am over in UK so very rare to see another Sportster but would still like to be the quickest around and mainly do not want to be embarrased by most of the Jap bikes, am already having fun suprising the heck out of them, Has anyone done the stage two & cams on a similar setup or have any recomendations of the best cams to go with ?

Cheers

Steve.

I would go with SE 497 or N4 Bolt-in cams and have at least 1200 size valves installed in the heads. This should work well with the 9.5:1 pistons. I would also think about reducing your Rev limit to 6000-6500 RPM to help extend engine life. If you are happy with it now you should be over the moon once you do the other work.

Hi Steve,

I have N2 cams in mine, but these have just gone in, along with new pistons and JET tuned 2004 heads (fitted to a 2000 model Hugger). I am just running in , but feel free to PM me in a few weeks once I have put some miles on.

If you want low down power the N2's are meant to be one of the best. They will suit your 883 valve sizes and low compression conversion.

The N4's or SE 497's will work better with more compression, but you dont have this with reverse dome pistons. When you get some stage 2 tuning on the heads you have, large 1200 size valves, and some combustion chamber/port changes with new pistons to match (10:1 compression) the N4's or similar higher lift, higher duration cams will help the top end much more. Look at Nalins web site for the sort of changes you should do.

Thanks for the advice, I have since spent some time on this forum and at Nallin's site and have decided to go for the 1250 kit with new 1200 xl 04 up heads with stage 2 and the se 536 cams, the heads have arrived and am just waiting for the cylinders and cams so expect to be good to go soon.
