Im changing the cams on my 1997 hugger as im converting it to a 1200 with thunderstorm heads. The cams im using are andrews n4. I read the sticky for changing cams on a 2004 but it didn't mention anything about bleeding down the lifters. Do i have to bleed them on a 1997? or do i just re-install and assemble everything the way it is? thanks in advance.

Absolutely must bleed lifters. Not certain, but I think the Andrews have smaller base circles so you can use stock pushrods, but somebody else help out here. Personally I'd use adjustable pushrods and removable covers so I could check them after a few miles. But back to bleeding lifters, get a service manual or read up on it here on the posts about cam installs. Make sure the lifters for the cylider you're working on are on the heel of the cam (the base not the lobe) extend the push rod (if adjustable) or tighten the rocker box bolts) a llittle at a time wait 5-15 minutes for the lifter to bleed down. Try to spin the pushrod, if it turns freely tighten the bolt or extend the push rod , wait, try to spin if it spins freely, repeat.

More important than all of the above, use the manual or follow the instructions that come with your pushrods. Too tight or too loose, either way it's a problem. Pushrod adjustment (for adjustable) is an art form getting the lifter in the middle of its range of movement. Most lifters are diffferent...Jims Hydrosolids have only 0.070" travel, stock have 0.200" ( I think) your goal is to end up in the middle of the range.

Hope this is helpful.
