I love it :clap, simple is best sometimes, your subtle rework on the original theme really adds to the look.

Are those reflectors screwed on or glued on or what. I want to take them off, but not if it's going to look like crap under them...any tips?

Like Folkie said, I also got them nice and warm with a hairdryer. They came off clean, you'd never know they'd been there.

They are just stuck on - its like double sided tape.
Use dental floss if they dont just peel off. :geek

It isn't "like" double-sided tape... it is double-sided tape. It's called "medallion tape," and it's really easy to remove, and just as easy to replace if you decide you want it back.
I'm not going to try to tell you not to remove the reflectors (I hate them, and took them off my own bike). However, I will tell you that they are required to be there under Federal law, and are an excuse for the cops to hassle you if missing. Just be aware of possible consequences, and make your own choices.

If the cops want to hassle me about a couple of reflectors...by that point I've probably done enough to piss them off already...lol...

Probably the Roland Sands Vintage 12 inch apes. They also have knockoffs on the market that are cheaper than the real ones.

Haven't been back here in a while! Anyway, just got the N finished up before winter, so I really only got the opportunity to snap a crappy cell phone pic before putting it back in the garage. New Tins, shortened and lowered rear fender, redtailleathers seat and a bunch of other random stuff to make it all work. Stoked on how it turned out!

HAHAhA Yeah they are the definitely the correct photo's. My rear fender is actually a 48 front fender. I originally had a Nightster front fender mounted there. It had a perfect radius but it was so narrow it looked awkward. The 48 fender has an almost identical radius as the Nightster fender but is obviously wider to accomodate the 48's wider front tire, making it an almost perfect fit for my rear fender. It's highly likely you wont see much of a difference from angles I posted. Here's another angle.

Thanks VTRider. I agree. The 4" front fender was awkward looking to be sure. The 48 front fender is 5.75". It's close enough to the width if the stock rear dunlop (6"). Now it looks like it's supposed to.

The seat on the iron is off my 2009 sporty that was totaled when I was rear Ended. I took it off and gave it to my brother it is a c&c customs Solo seat and is very very comfortable seat probably the most comfortable seat I have ridden on. The seat on the nightster is a custom solo seat it is pretty comfortable for being a solo seat but is ruff on the bigger bumps and pot holes.

The fender was $179.00 plus tax special order from the dealer. It came factory primed and ready to paint, so the price seemed reasonable to me.

I had a Mustang Vintage Solo on mine with FLH air shocks like you. I could ride all day with the set-up. I think that the limitations of the tank help that though, because you do get more breaks than on a touring bike. Now I ride for ~2 hours before refueling, but the bike has more comforts and allows me to ride that long.

On the freeway I am pushing no less than 80 mph and get between 120 and 140 miles to my 3.3 gal tank and that is loaded down and with a passenger

I looked at exotic choppers site and they look sweet! The website says that they can put the o2 bungs in them for extra cost. I have the stage 1 tuner kit already and was wondering if I need to get baffles and such put in them. Are you running baffles or just open pipes?
nightrider201
23rd November 2010, 22:18
no baffles or torque cones on his recommendation! I wanted to have the o2 bunges done also and he talked me out of that also.. lol
I bought the PCIII with his program for this application already in it.. Bike runs and sounds awesome!! I could not be happier with the outcome.. I'm sure he can give you some info based on the tuner your running..

I actually saved the circular part to use with my Autometer Mount. The circular part of the mount is the outer cover of the speedo. Without it the speedo looks incomplete and vulnerable to the elements so I shaved the extra metal off the round part and installed it back onto the speedo and clamped the whole thing into the Autometer Mount.

Nice shot. Love the artistic composition and the Shadow/Highlight tweaks. I see you have a Solo bag on the belt side. For some reason I'm really digging the resulting contrast of the soft leather snuggly nestled between the metal in this pic. Like it was meant to be there. It adds an organic touch to an otherwise fully mechanical beast.
Well Done.

Hey pastryslayer, these bags are made by Licks cycles. They're not on their website but if you call them, they will make them.

These are Rinehart Slip-Ons indeed. The heat shields are the factory ones, painted in heat resistant paint to match the engine cases.
In all, most of these mods mentioned were already on the bike when Mrs Bunny bought it from MacXLN. He gets the credits...
I changed the handlebars and powdercoated them, added the adjustable levers, HID headlight and did the purple triming as per her request. :o

I couldn't get an idea of how loud the pipes are from the video - not sure how far the mic was from the pipes... etc..
I live on church grounds and I'd like to ride through small towns without getting pulled by the local sheriff (or at least reduce my chances...).

On the scale of stock to short-shots, where would it fall in your opinion.

I found this video on YouTube that might give a good idea of the difference. The camera is in relatively the same spot for before and after. It doesn't sound that much louder than stock until he gets into the throttle, which is what I want.

As for the Heavy Breather, there's no water coming in if you use a rain sock, but mild rain is not problem even without it.

I found this video on YouTube that might give a good idea of the difference. The camera is in relatively the same spot for before and after. It doesn't sound that much louder than stock until he gets into the throttle, which is what I want.
Might be bolting on a thundermax and these pipes come August....

Thanks! Its about to get ANOTHER change up... I am selling the West Coast Choppers Air Cleaner - adding a black RSD Velocity Stack, going back to the pipes that were on it before (black Samson Short Shots), putting on a 2.25 galllon peanut tank (off a mid 70s XL) Going with 10" Z bars. Dropping the front end 2" - going back to flat black paint. I miss the 16"150 front an back set up, and may go back to that too. Truthfully, I just wanted to hardtail what I previously had, but I let the guy who welded on my hardtail talk me into doing a bunch of stuff he thought would look cool. Sounded good at the time but I kind got away from the spirit of the 'Dark Custom'

nightrider213
26th February 2011, 00:39
It's a Danny Gray. I believe it's called the butt crack solo. It's comfortable and good looking. They put gel in it for an extra 100 bucks. I think it will be worth it over time as regular foam mashes down, while the gel will always be the same.
Folkie
26th February 2011, 00:49
That's why I thought it was a Brawler: Danny Gray make the Brawler, and it looks very similar to that seat. Hopefully the ones they sell under their own name are better quality than the Brawler, which isn't too good.

I hate to disagree with you Folkie, but the Brawler was the most comfortable saddle I ever put on my Sporty... I have tried (purchased and resold) Mustang solo, HD Stripper (remember them?), Corbin Hollywood, LePera (got the idea from you) and several others... I could go for a 6 hour tour with no problem versus 2-3 hours only with the others... then again, I'm only 1 with an opinion...:wonderlan:o

Awesome look you got going there. Some classic style finders would set it off.
I was think about some classic style or fuller fender for the future. See How I go. At the moment I'm just enjoying clocking up the miles.:tour

My latest pic changed out front wheel to 21" and removed seat springs.

How's the comfort level with the solo seat hard mounted? I really like it! Thinking about doing that same thing to my 48, just want a more comfortable seat(than my stock one) that looks cool.

LOVE the beach bars and i agree that would look so mean with a long sweeping fender in the back to complete the look. paint is awesome too. enjoy it!

Been a long time since these were posted Goldfish but that looks great! Love the Roland Sands intake and the look of that seat. If I can't figure out how the hell to put a solo spring seat on mine I'll look at something like that.
Cheers!

SGT Fury and BMXATV those are good looking bikes. I like the two tone colors (that's coming from a two tone custom owner!).

Misnjoe, If you are asking about the bars on my red and black two tone. They are 34" Mid-Western Lows. Here in Australia they are available through the HD dealers. All the cables had enough length in them. I moved the throttle cables from between forks to go around them, just to make shore they didn't pull tight. I had to undo the brake line clap on the top tree and straighten the hard line out a little.

thanks for the info bro. those bars make it look more like the original "k" model sportsters from the late 50's. that i like! the photo is actualy a late 50's shovel, but this is what your bike reminded me of. maby the full rear fender would complete the look.
