I just ordered a laydown tail light lense. Will the stock bulb work with the laydown lense?

I've used the 'stock bulb' in my laydown lense for over 5,000 miles, with most of this use being on long cruises in 100+ temperatures.

Not one problem with overheating in the lense, etc.... In fact, after I first installed the laydown lense I use to check it's temperature (with my hand) after long, hot rides, against the stock lense on other bikes. I didn't notice much of a difference in temperature.

I like the stock bulb as it provides full coverage from the back, top, and sides, unlike many of the aftermarket LED bulbs.

I agree^^^

I've heard you should use an LED, but I have had no trouble with the regular bulb.

(the LED I bought sucked big time)

I use the red LED in both my crotch rocket and Sporty. The lamp has 19 small LED bulbs in it and it's real bright. My lense has a chrome cover over it so you can only see the end of the red lense but the lamp works very well.

I think it depeds on the style of lens you get. Mine was a little too close to the bulb and melted a little circle in the center. I put a red LED one in when I switched to a clear laydown lens....

I got mine from that Internet Vendor that has been mentioned in the past, Sorgy's or something like that....

It's very heavy duty, and works perfectly with the stock bulb..

Mine was thinner than the one you have on your bike...Thats why I said it depends on the style, as they are not all the same...

i wanted the layback also and then i ordered the kuryakyn low profile led layback. nicely made and easy to install.
and instead of having the leds just where the bulb would be by buying one of those led bulbs. this is made from a board of leds and they are all over the lens. install
unscrew old lens
unlpug light
install new gasket
plug into harness
screw back on
it even comes with a pin adapter to regular bulb harness if it is an older model
