I'm doing the bike in flame add-ons and I saw this neat flame tail light lens in JC Whitney's catalog for 99 and up H-D. I ordered it and when it came, it said to break the seal of the silicone on the stock tail light with a flat head screw driver to get the reflector for reuse. Was supposed to be "easy to install." Whoever said that...I'd like to find 'em and kill 'em! Well, the silicone on my tail light was rock hard and everything was firmly bonded. So a member on another site was nice enough to send me a spare tail light as a backup, since I figured the only way to extract the reflector was going to be to break the lens away from the reflector. I wanted a back up in case of emergency. Before I took to it with a hammer, I did have a couple friends see if they could get it to separate with a screwdriver...no go. :headbang SO, I smashed pieces off for about 5 minutes and finally got the coveted reflector. Stick it in the new lens...guess what. The @#$@& thing doesn't fit right! (Where's my gun?):madtwo The top edge is sticking out about 1/8 inch. So I...and the friends...try to use a screwdriver to shoehorn it in...nope. I thought maybe it would still fit if I just didn't put the foam padding back on. I install it, the friends leave and as I walk past the bike...something doesn't look right. Here, in my effort to tighten it down, I over tightened it and the little metal piece that the screw screws into within the housing came loose and pulled out of the housing. :censor I can cement it back in tomorrow evening after I get some cement...but now I really want to kill because I can't ride the bike to work. And yes, I was the first to do an on-line "review" of this product and it wasn't glowing. I just thank God I got a back-up tail light before I started this. Now the only question is...AK-47 or AR-15? I have access to both! While I know many complain about JC Whitney, this is honestly the first problem I have had. They are getting this whole, painful story in a letter when I return the thing! Bottom line...DON'T buy it!:frownthre

unless you have a goldwing,VW or Jeep then JCWitney is not for you!!! That catalog is pure cheese, I mean who needs a mudflap with 10 lights for your goldwing, I got a windshield from them a few years ago but that was a national cycle one. Other than brand name stuff stay away from JCW!!

I once bought a "no cutting required" dual exhaust from them and it was a total PITA, and ended up getting fit at the local exhaust shop.

I feel your pain dude.
