Due to a run in with a VC rocket a long time ago, one of my legs was burned real bad and covered with grafts. Anyway, as I get older, I figured out I wasn't as bullet proof as I was when I was 18. With that boring history out of the way, has anybody had any experence with Draggin Jeans with the knee armor? I, of course, have some good chaps and an armored leather jacket and thought alittle extra level of protection wouldn't hurt. I have looked into the 2 piece riding suits, but I would look like a grizzly on a minibike. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I think those draggin' jeans are made from kevlar which can burn/melt itself right into your skin when you are sliding along the pavement. I'd go for leather pants instead.
*edit*- of course I haven't experienced this myself, only heard about it.

I have the Firstgear HT overpants, textile pants made to fit over your jeans, that I wear when I'm touring. While I feel like I'm wearing snow pants (remember when you were young) They are great for keep the bug guts off your clothes and if I do go down they have armour in the knees and hips. They also come with a removable thinsulate linner for the cold weather.
I have checked out the draggin jeans and they look good, but I just never nedded them.

Not sure about the Draggin jeans but Rider Wearhouse has some canvas jeans called Arborwear Gusseted pants that you can get with/without knee pads. Pants only $57.00, pants w/knee pads $77.00. I've been looking at those for a couple of months.
I also have the First Gear HT overpants that I've worn all winter. They have been great and with the liner in my leags have stayed warm on my 10 mile commute to work even down into the 20s. I also have a pair of Joe Rocket Phoenix pants for the summer. I'm in my 50s so I really like all the armor I can get. The old body doesn't heal as fast as it used to.
