A little background on Gene first...
My friend Gene is 58yrs old(but looks 38), and is a master machinest by trade, and closet inventor. He dabbles in classic cars- he owns a custom(350 Chevy powered) '53 Studebaker, and a '63 Studebacker Avanti(Supercharged). This man has designed and built his own fuel injection systems, and also his own Supercharger and Tubrochargers. He has raced Go-carts and Midgets powered by Harley/Aermacchi two strokes, he has owned several Sportsters in his lifetime- although his first- was actually/technically, a '55 K-Model Flatthead, that was converted to OHV using iron XL parts in the 1960's and was bored and stroked to 83ci and was raced at the drags- and ran mid 10sec ET's in the late 1960's ! Gene is a bachelor as is myself, and we share many common interests.

Here are some pix(sorry I couldn't close up some details) of some of this years projects....

1)-the carb below is a 40mm Harley/Keihin Carb that he's converting to run like fuel injection...

2)-this next pic, is the modified Big sucker air cleaner on his XL1200 streetracker, the added extra element to the filter, was needed to clear his 4"+ custom designed velocity stack/splitter...

3)- this next pic, shows the open Big Sucker- revealing his spring loaded velocity stack/splitter...

4)- this pix shows more detail. BTW- the splitter extends all the way back to within 3 thousanths of an inch from the slide, and it's radiused to the same contour as the slide, ie- NOT straight across like all the other versions I've seen built or marketed.

5)- one more pic to show some other detail of the stack....

Something I noted yesterday- while at a Bike Swap meet, was that I found another maker for Carb splitters...the company Boyesen(known for making racing Two Stroke reed valves), is also marketing their own brand of carb splitter for a half dozen dif carb models/styles. But their splitter is slightly unique(maybe for copyright infringements?)- but they use an "+" Splitter not just the normal "--" design. The price for these very simple sheet metal splitters was $130 at the show....see the Boyesen website for more details.

Is it just my connection, or does anyone else just see red X's for the pics?

This sounds interesting, Ralph, but all I can see are red crosses.

The pipes are Supertrapp XR style high pipes(his bike is a streetracker after-all). He made the stainless steel heatshield, and also machined (from scratch)- the billet reverse cones on the end of the pipes as well.
