I just wanna give an RIP to Joe Rosenthal.

Joe as many may know was the man who shot the famous shot of the six soldiers raising the flag atop Suribachi.

I also want to give an RIP to Bill Genaust who shot the videos of tha flag raising and all the known video we have of Iwo. He laid down his life on Iwo and neer left the island.

I know its a memorial, but I wanna bump this up for those who missed it.

These 2 men, I feel, helped shape our culture to what is it today.

The men they photographed helped keep it that way.

Yeah it wasnt really a reinactment, per se, but the Brass didnt feel the first flag was good enough!

I guess the boys down below needed that extra boost.

I agree totally and the Marines saw the first flag on Suribachi as soon as it flew! I wouldn't feel good about fire support from the 2 M-1 carbines in the first pic though, looks like a Garand w bayonet in the middle. Matt
