Here is what I am gonna and it should make 99% of the people here happy. There is always 1% that will complain no matter what I do but oh well.

I have created a usergroup called Politics and Religion and anyone who wants can join it. Those that join this group will be able to enter the P&R category and the threads from the P&R category will show up in active threads.

For those that do not care for the category or do not want the threads to show up on the Active Threads block just do not join the Politics and Religion usergroup and the threads will never be seen.

Also if in the future, you feel that you that you no longer want to see these posts on the main page just remove yourself from the group. This gives everyone a choice.

I have already created the new usergroup and you can begin joining it now in the USER CP under GROUP MEMBERSHIPS. Or click HERE. Once on the Group Membership page click on the Politics and Religion group and click JOIN GROUP. If in the future you want to leave the group just check this group again and click LEAVE GROUP.

I will configure this category to disappear from the Active Threads block for all non Politics and Religion usergroup members this weekend so take the time now to join the group if you would like.

Including myself there are only 20 people that have joined the Politics and Religion group. If you want to see the posts from this section on the main page after this weekend then you will need to join this group

Beautiful idea. It does take a thick skin to post/discuss threads in that forum. Perhaps some of our newer/not yet members may get the wrong idea/impression of us if that's one of the first threads they read. :clap Bert once again you continue to make this a wonderful place to be!

The P&R usergroup permissions are now in affect. You will only see P&R posts on the main page if you are a member of this usergroup.

Small change. With the Vbulletin permission I do not have the ability to remove the post titles from the main page without making the entire category invisible.

So the post titles will still show up on the main page but you will not be able to view the thread unless a member of the P&R usergroup.

So what good is the change??? If I still see the main page and active topics littered with the P&R trash, the fix is not a fix at all. I never wanted to click on them before, so how does not being able to click on them improve on that? What am I missing?

Is this still the way we're doing it? It seems like none of the P&R threads show up in the active threads list anymore, even though I subscribed to the P&R section. I thought 99% of the people were happy with this arrangement.
