Well, I did it today. I went to my dealer to update my app and asked for the owners daughter who runs the place. I told her I wanted to change the app to request full time work.

She said she had an opening for a facilities manager. After talking with her for about an hour I had the job, full time.

Basically I'll be responsible for a fleet of 11 vehicles, maintanence and repair, making sure the snow is plowed, the dumpsters get emptied, if an electrical problem arises call the electrician, if the toilet brakes call the plumber, if a bike needs to get picked up or delivered get it done. Delivery of new bikes to the second retail location for customer pickup. If a disply breaks call HD for a new one. Also I'll be resonsible for making sure all the needed supplies are in stock, like products from Staples, Sam's club and others. There is currently 3 buildings and a forth is being renovated right now, a 35000 sq ft one that will eventually house the contents of two of the others. I got my own office and computer, hopefully with internet access and I can make my own hours, 40 or as many as 60. It's up to me. And 25% off anything except bikes.

I start on the 14th and can't wait. It's a little pay cut from what I do now, but I can work overtime, but at least I'll be working at a place where I'll be around bikes all day. And maybe actually enjoy going to work. :D

It's deffinately going to be a bit harder though. The bennies cost more and I'll be making a bit less an hour but I hope I can swing it with the OT.

But, if I go to work happy and come home happy, I'll eat ground beef instead of prime rib

One of my dream jobs...Congratulations, Barry! You'll adjust to the pay, like you said, and I'll bet there will be some times out of the year where the overtime will flow! Don't forget to put up an XL-forum card on the bulletin board and slip one to every new Sporty buyer! :D

I have no regrets I love my job and look forward to work every day.

That's fantastic..............in the end, things always somehow have a way of working out. Enjoy the job...........but don't spend all your money before walking out each night, now that you're in toy land.:clap

Thanks for the nice words. I'm very excited as well as a bit nervous. It's always tough to change to a new job with a family to consider.

As for some of the comments,

Congrats, man. Make sure you pick up those new heads from JET first
Got em in the cellar. Painted black and waiting for me to highlight the fins, and also for temps above 30 to put it together. :frownone

Now tell us how you're gonna hook us up with discounts!

If I could I would. However, it's for immeadiate family only. I don't think they would consider my XLForum family immeadiate :D

but don't spend all your money before walking out each night, now that you're in toy land
My wife works at Petco and brings home shit all the time. My turn baby.

it seems like only the coolest dudes work there. they're all tat up, long hair, dress nice (harley stuff), they wouldn't even hire me less even look at me.
Uh, short hair, no tats and I can wear jeans and t-shirts. Can I still be cool?

Congrats Barry,

Just think of all the money you'll save with the extra discount, I'm sure it will make up for any lesser pay. (ha ha) Either that or you'll end up owing them money every month. You give us all that have had the dream of working for a dealer, but never followed through and submitted and app great motivation.
Thanks and enjoy your new found nirvana.

Congratulations.

I thought my mate was mad when he went to work at a new dealership in 98 (now one of the largest) as a parts counter guy for less money than he was on.

All these years later he's service manager and as happy as a pig in s**t.

Good luck!

I would love a job like that. I was doing basically the same thing at a school in Yokosuka, Japan. I wonder if any of the dealers near home will be looking to fill a similar position when I move back.
