Now that I have the front brake switch issue resolved, thanks very much to you that helped...my next newbie question is this: still on the '92 XLH1200. Do the rear turn signals work as running lights, too or are they strictly turn signals? The front ones are illuminated all the time when not being used as turn signals. My rice burners were illuminated front and back. All fuses are good. All connections are tight. Somebody educate me. Thanks, Heavy

Sorry, Can't answer for your year model but,
Mine are running + Sig light double filament bulbs. Pull a bulb and see if they're
double element. That should give you an answer.

Those are JUST directionals....

Find a set of fronts on ebay, and just swap out the guts......rewire, and you have rear running lights....just tie the second filament into the taillight circuit.....

First mod I've done on BOTH my Sportys.....

Jim- Did you buy your bike used? Sounds like someone did that mod FOR you...

Almost every wire in the harness was butt spliced when I bought it. No sigs
at all. I bought a kit and installed it. The rears had 2 wires and the kit was
double filament and went together fine. I never knew there was a previous
mod to do it. Got lucky I guess.

BTW: I've always worried about those butt splices but so far so good.

J&P catalog has a turn signal controller made by "Badlands" ($109.99) that converts the rear turn signal ONLY lights to both turn signals/brake light/running lights. All three functions.

Pricer than the Kuryakyn ($69.99)
I installed the Kuryakyn brand but the catalog doesn't say it fits a 1992 as your bike is. Maybe it does, call J&P.

You don't have to change bulbs or rewire new/different sockets. The Kuryakyn unit took 5 minutes to install.

I have lots of lights in the rear now. Love it and helps the cagers to see you.

And HD makes one for about $50.

I have the Kurakyn one and love it. It also has optional back off brakes (flash three times when brake is activated), but I don't like that so it's turned off. The HD unit doesn't have the backoff feature.
