From the Mert Lawwill Website:

The 2005 Lawwill Street Tracker starts life as a stock 1,200cc Harley Davidson Sportster. The only thing saved from the frame is the mounting lugs for the rubber engine mounts and the serial number off the steering head. The frame is a completely custom hand built 4130 chrome molly frame that is designed around The "Lawwill Patented Rear Suspension System". Jim Belland builds the frame while Mert puts together the swingarms. The swingarms are welded by MC Products near Portland Oregon. The swingarms are then heat treated to 6061-T6. There are numerous unique CNC parts throughout the bike that are all made by DKG in San Rafael CA.

The motor: The street tracker uses special new heads cast by S.T.D. in southern California that put the exhaust ports on the left side and the intake on the right side to mimic the XR 750cc flat tracker. Modern "D" shaped ports are installed and duel 38mm carburetors are added. The relocated intake ports have dramatically better flow than the stock ports. An Andrews cam set that is designed especially for the street tracker series replaces the stock cams. A Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle full race ignition system, and a full race Super Trapp stainless steel exhaust system is installed.

The standard handle bars, electric controls and stock Harley Davidson wiring system is used to keep the bike easily serviceable at any harley Davidson dealer.

Light weight Buell forks are used along with Brembo calipers for the brakes and 19" flat track style wheels are used and fitted with Maxxis dirt track tires that use a special road racing compound. The gas tank is a slightly oversize unit that carries a full 3.5 gallons.

Lastly the Harley Davidson name plate on the side of the engine is removed and replaced with our own special Street Tracker serial number.

Did they just turn the cylinders to get it like that?

That $30,000 price tag is probably just pocket change to you military officers, but to a lowly enlisted retiree, it's just a little bit out of my price range...nice bike, though... :D

I have a buddy at work who rides a (ahem) metric cruiser who's always bashing Harleys, all in good fun, because I'm still friends with him. However, he keeps yakkin about this bike he saw on the new Cycle World- this is it. It even converted a HD basher! Plus some other weird long bicycle-looking red thing that I though was hideous.
Very cool

:D Hey Wickedsprint,

I there another Tard (supermoto freak) on the forum. I see your KX500 is street legal. I've got a tarded Honda CRF150 mini-moto sitting in my garage. Trying to find someplace around O-Town to ride it. Can't make them street legal in FL. :tour

I grew up in a military family. Born at the Marine Air Station Cherry Point, NC way back when. Know what it's like to get all your stuff in a small moving van. They don't pay any of you enough!!! :frownthre

Thank you for your service!

I was being a smartass, they need to pay the enlisted guys and gals more cash though. I do not have the KX500 supermotarded, it is still in offroad trim but with lights and a plate. You actually can DS bikes in florida, I lived in tampa for like 14 years(graduated USF in 02), it can be done friend, but it seems to be hit or miss.

:D Saw a guy at the Deland, FL. bike rally yestersday, that had a Sporty with knobbies, upside down forks, gas shocks, and upswept exhaust. I quess it's a followup to the old Harley MX250. I got a picture, but my ancient digital camera won't talk to my new computer. Damn I hate that! :frownthre

Dirt or asphalt, it's all good! :tour
