I've got an 87 sportster frame with 2000 1200C stuff jammed in it.

Since buying it I've added a 4.2 Gal tank, a 6 speed baker, black high temp coated slash tip drag pipes, low profile front and rear blinkers.

I'd like to install a dual front rotor set-up, and the XLCR front fairing. I'm torn between the XLCR set-up or installing a set of twin headlights. Riding at night at 90+mph gets kind of interesting when you are out running your headlights...or at least your reaction time to what comes into them.

I rode my bike up to Gillette Wyoming for my 10 year high school reunion, about 1300 miles one way. I left at about 2pm and got there the following evening.

On the way back down I left at 5 am and arrived at home at about 0130 am. ALL 2600 miles were done in a 4 day weekend.

It was a ride of a life time. I got hit by a small bird in the ribs, had 2 rabbits commit suicide, with my bikes help, ran over a prong horn antelope...after the truck in front of me conveniently laid it out right in front of me.

Oh but wait there is more...

On my way back I hit a patch of gravel while getting off Interstate 80 and getting on the 215, just north of Salt Lake City, and slammed into a concrete barrier at about 70mph...A couple of cart wheels, a flip, and a very acrobatic landing, I skidded to a halt. When I got up I noticed that my bike had managed to break it's handle bars, rip off the saddle bags, tear the back half of it's exhaust off, and sling it's battery out of it's box.

As bad as my bike was I had a big chunk missing out of the palm of my hand and two separate, very bloody, impact wounds to my left knee. My left boot had a hole worn in it, through the rubber, through the leather, and through my sock...but strangely besides feeling broken I didn't have any road rash on that foot.

Well after all that...the bike fired up and I rode it the next 900 miles till arriving at home....but not before riding through a very active forest fire in southern Utah.

So...that's me...er,...well that was me a couple of months ago.

Ok...so I'm still alive... Ride'n my bike almost every day.

I've got some pics of it after the rebuild. Since getting it all back together I've added a NRHS forward set intake(3" thick filter), Vance&Hines 2into1(like Kerker), Dynojet Jet kit(45/195), Crossroads rearsets, Norman Hyde ACE bars...

Well...enough of that crazy talk for now.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Later,
Dennis

Welcome from Texas and that was an interesting trip. I am sure most of us can relate to kissing the pavement one time or another. I did take an 01 sportie from Houston to Des Moines Iowa. Going there no windshield and OK has major construction going on year around. I was peppered with rocks, and other garbage, first stop was at the dealer for a windshield which made the ride alot more enjoyable especially since each segment was straight through or 18 hours solid riding. Enjoy this site I have for years before joining and thought it was time to be a poster not a lurker.
