Guys,
I have a Head quarters ignition module. I have been going by the instructions to mount it to the cam cover. I got it all timed up, statically and with the light/magnet combo. Now, by looking at their instructions, I am trying to hook up the wires correctly. Talking to Jamie, she thought that the Dual fire-single plug setup for my 2000 sportster is what i need. I tried to connect the wires according to the figure, and turned the engine over and NO Spark. For familiarity, the coil has two spark plug wires coming out of it, and two other wires attached to it- pink and white. I dunno why I cant get any spark?
I also looked at the wiring diag. and tried to connect the wires with the corresponding wires from the stock ign. Doing this I got the red light to bliink on the ignition when the bike was being turned over.

Has anyone installed their ignition and had a similar problem?
If you have installed it, would you mind if you gave me your # so I can chat with ya about how to wire this puppy up?

Any help is Greatly Appreciated. :frownone

Had the same problem last spring, Jamie gave me the # to the manufacturer of of the ignition ( daytona twin tech I think) My wrench is the one who talked to them, but this is what he told me they had him do.
1 Disconect the voes completely
2 Disconect the the factory Ignition module ( under triangle on left ) everything you need is built in to the ignition
3 unless you had single fire setup before use the dualfire side set advance curv switch to 3
4 set rev limit to 6000 lowest setting they have, don't worry about the voes setting ( I think one side says partial voes and the other says full voes) doesn't make a dif if you have completely disconected the voes as is recomended. Don't forget to plug the vacum line. I used the same color as the dualfire side, I think red, but it coulda been the blue it's been 8 months & I'm easily confused
my wrench left the module and voes on the bike and just taped the wires up after disconecting everything. IT WILL NOT FIRE TILL THE ENTIRE OLD IGNITION SYSTEM IS DISCONNECTED. after she fires and you take her for a spin, if she doesn't ping move the advance curve switch to setting 2 mine pinged slightly there, if yours doesn't move it to 1 the most aggresive setting. once you get her to ping back of 1 setting and that should be very close to ideal, I'm on 3. Good luck I hope this makes sense.

I had almost the same problem with my Dyna 2000. I just had the wires on the ignition moduel backwards. Of course I have a single fire set up, but switched the wires arround and she was turning and burning with about 2 minutes worth of work. Let us know what it was when you get'er fixed.

Just to make sure, my conversion used the HQ 21835 selectable electronic ignition. It mounts to the cam cover and replaces factory ignition, ignition module & voes. The ignition module wiring, under the triangle has to be disconected. you can't just unplug the module from the plug behind the cover. the wires have to be disconnected at the other end. Sorry I'm not sure what they were connected to. I'm guesing the coil. Using the magnet and light set your static timing. It took 2 calls to DTT to convince my wrench to disconnect the module from the source, after the first he just unplugged it and still had no spark.

Fellas,
I will try the advice tomorrow! Thanks so much. I was starting to get pissed that I might have a bad ignition. the timing light on the ignition was blinking when i turned it over, but no spark. Hopefully this will help. Thanks

kyle,
I unplugged the module from behind the fusebox and the voes switch up near the top motor mount. I also unplugged the two wires that were originally connected to the coil. still not getting any spark. do you remember if I need to disconnect any other wires?
thanks

just stopped by my daughters to see if you had it running. I'll call the wrench tomorrow before I post and double check and double check my wiring diagram tonight. But you can't just unplug the module, you have to disconnect the wires where they terminate. I think the coil. I have about 3" long x1" diameter bundled to the lower frame under the battery. I thinkThe voes would still let her fire, but would screw with when the curvs switch. You do have the switch set on the dual fire side? And have checked other basics Plug wires have not broken and such? Also check/trace those wires you unplugged from the coil. Damn I was hoping that she was running and you were just crying the blues case you cause you couldn't break it in.

Update:
I called the manufacturer, and he said that I did all the troubleshooting that i could with the advice you gave me. He thinks that it is a bad ignition. I took it off and sure as shit, theres a hole in the back, and I can see solder. She must have burnt up or something. I dont remember if it was like that or not when I installed it, but chances are thats what the problem is. I sent it out to them, and they will send me another one. Then It will go, and I will RIP on it!! :tour

I know how you feel, Thats why I wasn't there when the wrench finished mine up, I took three days of phone calls and screwin around to get it hooked up right. I was at work when he finaly taled with manufacturer and got her hooked up right. It was a long day & night after he called me and told me she was up and runnin, !5 min after he got off the phone with the tech. Make sure you figure out what break in to use and stick wth it. The first 50 mi. sucked she wants to scream and you can't let her loose.
