Here are some shots. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/sunkenloot/bars.jpg Jeffytune 5th March 2005, 08:47 Hi. Nice indeed, as long as they are comfortable to ride, it's all good. BTW, Nice PT, is that Pearl Red? Jason's Sporty 5th March 2005, 16:43 Next step is to go clip on bars from www.Crossroadsperformance.com I have rode on a sporty with them and it truely rides and feels like sportbike. sunkenloot 5th March 2005, 23:59 What a change. I logged some many miles today. I like the position but, man I think I need some new grips. I saw some kinds of s shape Airfoil type grips once now cant find them. . I remember reading something about ergonomic blah blah. What I like was it looked more like you could pull the throttle with your finger tips and still have some lower wrist support. Any ideas? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/sunkenloot/newbars2.jpg Jason's Sporty 6th March 2005, 01:37 Man you gotta ditch that schoolbus mirror. I have a set of custom chrome cateye mirrors on my bike they look great. txsporty 6th March 2005, 02:15 sunkenloot Looks good as hell!!!! :D I like'em!! Bet you have more response in the steering now!! Turbota 6th March 2005, 03:57 Great looking bike! Just gotta ask you how you keep those jugs so nice. My cylinders are black, but more gray in color than yours (after 1 year). I tried some S-100 on them, but when I started the bike it just smoked like hell till it all burned off. After that, it looked so so, but not as bright black as yours. Ron, What's the secret? Gyahmers 6th March 2005, 04:04 I really like those bars. Nice! Gyahmers 6th March 2005, 04:06 Great looking bike! Just gotta ask you how you keep those jugs so nice. My cylinders are black, but more gray in color than yours (after 1 year). I use S100 Engine Brightener available at your local dealer for 8 bucks. Keeps the jugs, heads, and other parts looking brand new. They're Custom Chrome E-Grips... http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/CC-ERGOGRIP.jpg Gazza Turbota 6th March 2005, 04:33 I use S100 Engine Brightener available at your local dealer for 8 bucks. Keeps the jugs, heads, and other parts looking brand new. Thats what I used on my cylinders and heads. In fact, I sprayed them with S100 when I got the parts back from HRHS (before assembly). Well, a week later when I started the bike, that S100 smoked like a chimney until it all burned off the jugs and heads ... Looked ok, but nothing like I thought it should. Seemed to be a waste of 8 bucks to me. GOTWA 6th March 2005, 06:49 So the question for me is, whatcha doing with those stock bars you pulled off??? sportymark 6th March 2005, 08:06 I use the H-D Aerofoil grips on my bike and they look great (really comfy too). sunkenloot 6th March 2005, 10:17 Man you gotta ditch that schoolbus mirror. Yea, I am not sure how im going to deal with it yet. Something about the one stocker I like. Just gotta ask you how you keep those jugs so nice. Well, I think partly the photo is dark. I also dont ride alot in the rain an dirt. The roads around here a real nice and clean for the most part. Other than that I have never used anything but soap and water. Is this what you saw? They're Custom Chrome E-Grips... Hell yea, thats them. Thanks for coming up with that. I think tomarrow Im going to try the smaller HD grips and re-route some stuff. I may have something binding. My clutch lever is really stiff (off to research ez pull clutch thingo) . I think I may like those grips. So the question for me is, whatcha doing with those stock bars you pulled off??? Well, part of my idea on working with this bike is keeping all and anything that comes off it. Im tring to keep everything so that one day should I (or my great great great someone-or-other) want to restore it back to the way it came from the MOCO. Kinda hard sometimes cause, sellin some of these parts could fetch me more loot but, keeping the parts may turn out to be priceless. So far So good. mountbkr 6th March 2005, 14:24 So the question for me is, whatcha doing with those stock bars you pulled off??? I have a set for sale if your interested pm me :shhhh nutsy 6th March 2005, 20:31 that orange and black looks great.beautiful bike. hillbilly 7th March 2005, 03:06 Great looking bike! Hey Ron just wanted to add to your question on how to keep the powder coat looking so black....I use Black shoe polish. Just a small amount will work wonders on powder coat.use a small tooth brush also for small areas! Tell me how you like it :D sunkenloot 7th March 2005, 19:06 That shoe polish idea sounds interesting. May give that a try when it comes time for that. A lil clutch cable adjustment smaller grip and bar angle sure helped alot. To be on the safe side I got the e-grips and the ebay easy pull clutch dohicky on the way. I suppose this might not be problems for everyone but, I have relativly small hands and shot wrists from years of computer work. Damn computer. Its in the 70's bright blue skys and Im stuck in a office.. :censor SkippyRay 7th March 2005, 19:23 Where are the pics i cant see them. :( hillbilly 10th March 2005, 17:33 Ill get some pics together soon! i used to be a member here for a while when the first started but had comp. probs. had a gallary together once but not sure if they still have it. I also have a 883r with many changes... Kevin SkippyRay 10th March 2005, 18:13 883R are the absolute cats meowwwwwwww IMO, sunkenloot 13th March 2005, 19:27 Well it took me a lil while before I nailed what I was looking for. It took a one inch rise to get the bars where I wanted. I also remounted the speedo using 1.5 inch spacers off the brow. Swapped the grips. I really like the feel of them but the throttle side feels hard to get used to. I may just go back to the original on that side. LOL mixed grips. :shhhh . Here are some pix. Notice the old fart stick on mirror. It fixed alot of visability problems for now. Also, the last pic is a fix for a broken plastic choke knob. The lil plastic piece broke off and I needed a quick fix. I fit a pinion gear for a 1/10 scale R/C car on it. I think I like it better now that way. :smoke http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/sunkenloot/03.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/sunkenloot/02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/sunkenloot/01.jpg hillbilly 15th March 2005, 02:30 Hey sunkenloot have you seen the new Black and chrome head bolts they would look sweet on your heads sunkenloot 15th March 2005, 02:33 ::note to self:: Look at new head bolts during conversion. :D sunkenloot 15th March 2005, 02:36 NOTE! damn emoticons :censor :censor :censor :censor sunkenloot 21st March 2005, 07:15 Today I stole out to the garage and finally put the bike jack together. And since she was already upright I decided to try out the ez pull clutch thing I got off e-bay. I wasnt expecting much but WOW. It really made a difference. Since I seem to be stuck in traffic alot, this is going to be a godsend. The hardest part of installing it was assembeling the lift. :laugh |
