My sporty is continuing to run like hell. Today I left the house and it started bogging down. It had idled fine in the garage, but once I started riding it didn't do so well. It's hard to explain the way it ran, but it bogged down and was quieter than normal and it was surging. It seems to me it is starving for fuel. Last week the float hung on it and I had to tap on the bowl to get it loose. My rear tank mount was loose and I'm thinking a bunch of trash got shaken loose. I'm going to take the tank off tonight and check the petcock screen before I go any further. I don't have a manual so, in the event I have to do a rebuild, does anyone know where I can find the instructions online?

Guys, y'all are awesome! The update is that I took the tank off when I got home and drained it. CHUNKS of shit came out along with normal sediment. I took it for a spin and this seems to have fixed the problem. It looks like the trash is possibly some liner material. Thanks again!!

The most difficult part of rebuilding a CV carb is getting the top back on without pinching the vacum diaphram. But it really is not that hard I found that by placing the top on and gently moving it around it seated itself. But many people get impatient and try to force it causing damage to the diaphram. Just take your time and it will really not be a problem.

You can also push up on the slide to "umbrella" the diaphragm and it will seat quite easily if you then wiggle the cover around a little bit to make sure it is seated correctly. It's really easy once you've done it. Just don't tighten anything down until you're sure that it is seated. After I have the cap on, but without screws, I always push up on the slide and let it come back down with the swoosh sound that it normally makes in order to make sure that it is operating properly, then I tighten down the screws.
