I have a 1990 ( sorry, not an XL)fxr that I'm building for Bub next year. I've been been to the last two Bub meets as a spectator, and I want to run next year. I'm hoping to run it as a P/PG 3000, but am unsure of the rules. I talked to a guy with a bagger/ S&S 124" there in Sept. and he was running in P frame class. From the rule book it looks like you have to have stock exhaust, but he had a custom pipe. He said it was needed because the stock pipe extended aft of the axle. Basically, I'm going to run a stock FXR chassis, with a trick aluminum swing arm, FXRT bodywork, and a STD 139" motor with aftermarket air cleaner and exhaust. Does anyone know if that will fly for P/PG 3k rules wise? Any advice or other info for a first time LSR effort is welcome!

What is your (or BUB's) definition of P/PG?

The swingarm would put you in A from what I've been told. You can modify the original frame and swingarm and stay in M. If you use aftermarket it puts you in A. The rules for 2008 are probably still up on the Bub site.

Well I guess I could run a stock swing arm just for the event. I have read the AMA rule book, but it seems really vauge. I spent a bunch of time at the scrutineering tent in Sept. and I saw a bunch of stuff that seemed at odds with what I read in the rule book. It may been because of the FIM or something, but I really have no clue if I'll be in the right class from reading the rule book. It mentions both the air cleaner and the pipes under P frame section, but the bagger I saw run in P/pg 2k had both a custom pipe and a custom A/C!

I agree completely the rules are very vauge. But, i'm gonna guess the custom exhaust was legal in PG but not PP. Or, nobody protested it and the techs still have a lot to learn.
The SCTA may have a lot of rules but at least it's easier to know where you stand.
I'll be heading down to Chatsworth again Tues., I'll wave as we go by...LOL

I run in Altered class at Bub's which has fewer restrictions in most areas then the Production class. I would suggest that you bring photos that support that you are production appearance compliant. I also run a production Buell at ECTA Maxton and that is how we get through tech. The external appearance is what has to be production. Even the muffler has to be stock appearing there.
