Need a little help. My Sporty (recently purchased off eBay) had turn signals removed. The old turn signals had been converted to one tail/brake light and one brake light both mounted off a strut on the right side of the book. See my gallery for a pic. Definitely cool looking but a bit harsh with the hard tail.
Anyway, my buddy gave me some shocks off a 2006 Lowrider so I removed the struts and am trying to put two tail/brake lights off each side of the fender struts. One is ready (from the strut setup) but I'm having a problem converting the other old turnsignal into a 3 lead socket. What's the best way to convert to do this? Tried a generic 3 lead socket from AutoZone. No dice. There isn't any way to secure the socket
Surely, I'm not the first person to try to do this. Of course, I'm doing this on the cheap so what ideas do you have?

23 hours later, I was hoping someone could help. :(
Guess I'll have to do something new. I'll just get some Ford replacement sockets and lay in the signal housing. At least they'll light up tail and brakes.
I'm still open to suggestions.

not sure what you're asking. are you asking about the mounting bolt that goes through the strut & fender?
are you asking about electrical?
check hte classifieds here, someone has to be selling their stock signals.
ebay is also a good place to go.

Thanks for the replies guys. I see now that my post wasn't clear enough. My problem is electrical. I have the turn signal housings that fit the bike. I'm not trying to put working turn signals back on the bike but separate brake/tail combos on each side of the fender strut/rail. The brake/tail combo and brake light were located on the hardtail strut when I bought the bike. I removed the struts and put shocks on the bike so I wanted to relocate the brake/tail light and make the other "brake light" into a brake/tail light combo also. I realize that Kuryakyn sells these as well as other companies. Just thought I could make it work with a little bit of work. Evidently, I've been spending too much time in the XLForum's Customizing forum. :banana
What I had trouble with is making the the brake/tail combo in the one that wasn't already. I've bought several 1157 light sockets/inserts from AutoZone to try to put a brake/tail combo in the turn signal housing. Just having trouble making them work. The inserts push down too far and don't let the bulb keep it's connection when I insert the 1157 bulb and the sockets don't have a way to secure to the inside of the housing.
I hope I made it clear. If I didn't ask me. I may try to take a pic of what I'm trying to do to see if that helps.
Thanks for the replies.

I think Cantolina gave you the answer you're looking for in his own twisted way. Put front turn signals (from Ebay or whereever) on the back. They will have the dual filament sockets in them and the sockets won't move on you.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap
Gary, thanks for the nudge, I needed that. Cantolina, you are correct and I'm sorry I didn't understand your post. As soon as I saw Gary's post and understood what you were saying, I ran to the garage and checked (my buddy gave me a box full of turn signals, mirrors, pegs, shocks, etc. Yeah, he's cool). YES!!! It's gonna work. I had no idea that the turn signals on my Sporty were designed as running lights also. You guys are awesome. I'll be riding before the weekend is over, checking out the new Lowrider shocks. :tour Although my new seat from eBay didn't come in yet. I'll suffer with the old one. Still happy to be ridin'.
