I have a layback license plate and taillight. I would like to use a larger saddlebag, but with the way it is now, it can't work. The smaller saddlebags are just too small for purposes. I would like not to drill the fender. Is there any way someone knows how to do this?Rear turn signal relocation

There was a similar question last week. Do a search to see what they dug up. If you become a paid member you get access to Bert's personal instructions. However, I weighed Bert's suggestion to plan 2-4 hours and my 10 thumbs against the 1 hour of labor my dealer said he would charge. Guess which one I picked.

The one I have is Harley and it uses the same holes as the stock plate holder. the only issue I had was the litte wire ends. what a PITA.:frownthre

Hey Moose,
This is the H-D layback license plate with turn signals (p/n 60215-06) on my '06:

Moves the signals way back & will clear most every bag out there.

Thanks everyone. I have the stock fender. But, I was hoping to do something that was easy.

Walleye, do you have a part number for that? Will it work with my aftermarket layback plate?

I put a set of wille max mechanic bags on my 88 1200 and all I did was eliminate the mounting bracket on each light which set them in real close.
Then just moved them back to the last hole on the fender strut mount.
It looks good and works great. No Drilling required and best of all you alreadey have all the parts needed. I also have the laidback plate mount.

glau, the guy with the 883 just gave you the stock number. it is a relatively easy (though time consuming) mod. as he said, the wire ends can be a pain in the ass, kinda like threading a needle. it puts the signals back way out of the way, and you can do all the detachable stuff without any worries about the signals getting in the way.

Glau13-
I think we thought when you said a layback plate you ment the HD layback, maybe not, but when you get the actual HD laydown (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444876889 1&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302289971&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302289971&bmUID=1160052709679&bmLocale=en_US) plate it also now comes with the signal light bar to move them back. This is what I used too only diffacult part of the install is dealing with the wiring. And it isn't hard just a pita...

MD2020,

do you have a picture of it? i'd like to see what it looks like.

ct1200,

no. i don't have the hd ones. i bought an aftermarket one that you don't see the frame when you look head on at the plate.
