I bought a solo rack and mounting hardware for my '05 XL 883 low.
The nuts in the hardware did not fit the bolts. I went to the dealer I purchased it from and they confirmed the problem. They gave me new nuts for the bolts then wanted the money for them. When I said bought the part from them and came with the wrong nuts they said it was Harley's fault not theirs.
I know it's only less than a buck but can you imagine the support you would get from these people for something more costly.
The other day I purchased the chrome oil and battery covers from them. I asked the service manager how the oil cover came off and he would not tell me but said I needed to make an appointment to bring the bike in. I told him where to put his appointment and figured it out for myself.
Most of the non family people working there are real nice but the owners family and inlaws are ... !
The problem is this owner owns two dealerships in my area so I will have to travel some to buy stuff.

That really sucks JaggedEdge, but it seems if you want better service it means travel. Although it does mean some ride time on the bike :D

the local autherized H.D. round here is second gen. family owned and they are a great bunch of people , I'll go in by the machanics and they will answer just about any question I have and never once did they want me to make an appointment (hell I don't think they even want to work on my old sh!t) but they always give me help if I need it

The dealer in my area wasn't really a family kind of setup, but for years his brother headed up the sales department. I'd heard lots of horror (stupid) stories of him, he was generally considered an idiot by most people I met. I never really talked to him, but at an open house I watched him talk a couple right out of buying a bike. They were real set on a fatboy, the brother was trying to get them to look at a roadking, the customer didn't like the saddle bags, the brother said "in my opinion anything that doesn't have saddle bags is just a lousy bar hopper". The couple walked away, I imagine to check out another dealer. Upside of the story is that after years of incompetance by the brother, the dealer finally fired him recently. I'd hate to have to deal with Mom at this years Thanksgiving dinner though.

I've had no problems with my local HD dealerships, but I also have a water scooter and that Sea Doo dealership sounds like it's owned by the same family as your HD dealership.:cloudmad
